High Potential Season 1 Episode 6 Review: Hangover
A killer reveal switches up the beginning of High Potential. Then, we’re in for a wild goose chase as we witness more depth to Morgan’s crime-solving style. High Potential Season 1 Episode 6, “Hangover” highlights her complex relationship with suspects and victims.
It could eventually become her undoing.
In the first five High Potential episodes, Morgan proves that her heart allows her to bring insight, compassion, and intuition when solving crimes. It makes her more dynamic than an average detective or consultant.

We have only witnessed the good in her abilities. However, “Hangover” hints at the potential for these strengths to become weaknesses. These abilities make her miss vital clues because of her singular focus on proving people’s innocence.
Her stubborn determination to be right could lead someone to manipulate her — if she meets a worthy adversary.
To emphasize that even the smartest person can make mistakes, we need that slight downfall in Morgan’s skills. Hopefully, the writers have something in the works for a future High Potential episode that involves a case with Morgan trusting the culprit too much, and this coming back to hunt her.
We need to start building the High Potential recurring villains roster.
For now, “Hangover” continues to showcase Morgan’s humanity as the key to excelling at her job. A lesser consultant would have immediately labeled this a clear-cut case. We would have then not undergone so many of the twists and turns.

High Potential often takes viewers through a mountain of misdirections before coming around to the culprit.
Nevertheless, “Hangover” is the most exciting iteration. Every new suspect and motivation makes us go, “Yeah, they did it,” only for a few minutes later to gasp and go, “Wait, not them?”
It’s a very entertaining display of the power of leading an audience astray. We don’t truly understand what happens until the end.
“Hangover” is one of High Potential’s best examples of toying with the audience to make them an active viewer. This active viewing creates a fun-watching experience that could make the series a must-see weekly viewing.
Toxic work environments act as the moral backbone of this episode. We see it in how Elaine treats everyone. She is a horrible boss and not a great wife or friend either. High Potential drives home this message of despicable bosses with Morgan’s tales.

JUDY REYES
We can only imagine some of the horrible bosses she must have encountered in her many jobs.
By the end of “Hangover,” Elaine seems so horrible that you don’t really mourn her death. However, it emphasizes how Captain Soto leads with kindness as well.
She’s one of the characters that doesn’t fall into the tough police captain TV show stereotype. She’s authoritative without cruelty and judgment.
“Hangover” and High Potential Season 1 Episode 5, “Croaked” build the crew beyond Karaddec and Morgan. You feel like you at least somewhat know the other key adult cast.
“Hangover” continues the series’ ability to create a captivating weekly mystery. However, we hope that Morgan isn’t always right to showcase more of her crime-fighting flaws.
Stray Thoughts
- Tom and Morgan? Here for it.
- Loving Olson’s High Potential fashion choices.
- It was different, but not strange, not having the children around for an episode.
