First Look at Horror-Thriller Series ‘Teacup’ Released by Peacock at San Diego Comic-Con 2024
Peacock brought a chill to San Diego Comic-Con with a first look at Teacup.
The new horror-thriller series “follows a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive,” per its logline. Teacup is inspired by the bestselling novel Stinger by Robert McCammon, who is also an executive producer of the show.
The SDCC panel kicked off in Ballroom 20 on Thursday, July 25, with executive producers James Wan and Ian McCulloch and stars Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, and Chaske Spencer unveiling the exclusive sneak peek at the Peacock and Atomic Monster original series.

The first two episodes of Teacup‘s eight-episode season will premiere on Thursday, October 10, on Peacock. Two new 30-minute episodes will stream weekly through Halloween. To coincide with the SDCC panel, Peacock has released first-look photos and a teaser for the terrifying series.
Alongside Strahovski, Speedman, and Spencer, Teacup stars Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux.
Showrunner and executive producer Ian McCulloch couldn’t shake the book after reading it and asked, “What if I adapted Stinger in a way that honors the book and stays true to the kinds of stories I like to tell?”
After it “changed and evolved” during production, Teacup “is now very much its own thing: a puzzle-box mystery, an edge-of-your-seat thriller, a can’t-but-mustlook horror story, a family drama, a science fiction epic—of the keyhole variety, of course,” McCulloch continued.

“But as singular, strange, and surprising as I hope Teacup is, all you need to do is peel away the layers, characters, situations, and mythology and look behind the thrills, chills, hairpin turns and make-you gasp reveals,” McCulloch added.
“Do all that and you’ll see, at its heart, Teacup is still very much standing on the shoulders of Stinger. Just as it should,” McCulloch concluded.
“Teacup defies easy labels. It’s a genre-bending blend of horror, mystery, and drama, with layers that unfold like a captivating puzzle. It goes beyond chills and thrills and holds up a mirror to humanity, exploring the darkness that resides within us all. We hope you enjoy this wild ride as much as we’ve loved creating it!” executive producer James Wan said in a statement.
Executive producer E.L. Katz directed the show’s first two episodes. Teacup is also executive produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster, as well as Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen. The show comes from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group.
