Chicago Fire Season 13 Finds a New Chief in Dermot Mulroney
With Wallace Boden leaving Firehouse 51, that means there’s an opening for a new chief on Chicago Fire. And while Herrmann may be the one to work toward filling that role (Boden told him he should try), it’s Dermot Mulroney who will fill that vacancy for now.
Mulroney joins Chicago Fire for Season 13 as a series regular. He’ll play Chief Dom Pascal, a character who, according to Deadline, is described as a “cheerful person who works well under pressure.” He’ll have a leadership that differs from Boden’s.

While no official details about the character have been released, sources say that Dom Pascal originally got his start with the CFD but has been living and working in Miami for the last decade. He’s also estranged from his wife.
While Pascal may be replacing Boden at Firehouse 51, that doesn’t mean Boden is gone for good. Eamonn Walker exited Chicago Fire as a series regular at the end of Season 12, but his exit left room for the possibility that we could see him occasionally. (Boden left the firehouse because he was promoted to Deputy Commissioner.)

Dermot Mulroney is known for his roles in My Best Friend’s Wedding, The Family Stone, Anyone But You, Secret Invasion, The Righteous Gemstones, and New Girl, among others.
This also won’t be his first appearance on a first responder series; he appeared in several episodes of Station 19.
Chicago Fire Season 13 premieres Wednesday, September 25th at 9/8c on NBC.
