For All Mankind Renewed for Season 5 at Apple TV+
The space adventures continue!
For All Mankind has been renewed for Season 5 on Apple TV+.
There’s more good news! For All Mankind‘s creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Dedivi will expand the show’s universe with a spinoff series, Star City. Nedivi and Wolpert will be the showrunners on the brand-new TV show produced, like the mothership series, for Apple TV+ by Sony Pictures Television.

This renewal news and universe expansion comes after the original show’s critically acclaimed fourth season. It kicked off with For All Mankind Season 4 Episode 1, “Glasnost,” in November 2023. The fourth season concluded with For All Mankind Season 4 Episode 10, “Perestroika,” in January.
“With each new season, For All Mankind continues to build out a fascinating world and capture global audiences through high quality storytelling that has been so skillfully developed by Ron, Matt and Ben,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said.
“There is so much to explore, and we, along with our partners at Sony, can’t wait to dive into this next chapter of the engrossing For All Mankind universe,” Cherniss added.
The space drama’s fourth drama rockets eight years after the events of For All Mankind Season 3 Episode 10, “Stranger in a Strange Land,” to 2003. It finds Happy Valley expanding “its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners,” per the season’s synopsis.

The space program focuses on the capturing “and mining of extremely valuable, mineral-rich asteroids that could change the future of both Earth and Mars. But simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working toward.”
Meanwhile, Star City is described as “a propulsive, paranoid thriller” set “in the alt-history retelling of the space race — when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon.”
The For All Mankind spinoff series will go “behind the Iron Curtain” to follow “the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.”
Showrunners Nedivi and Wolpert executive produce Star City alongside Moore and Maril Davis of Tall Ship Productions.

“Our fascination with the Soviet space program has grown with every season of For All Mankind,” executive producers Wolpert and Nedivi said.
“The more we learned about this secret city in the forests outside Moscow where the Soviet cosmonauts and engineers worked and lived, the more we wanted to tell this story of the other side of the space race,” the duo added.
“We could not be more excited to continue building out the alternate history universe of For All Mankind with our partners at Apple and Sony,” Wolpert and Nedivi concluded.
Created by Moore, Wolpert, and Nedivi, For All Mankind is executive produced by showrunners Wolpert and Nedivi with Moore and Davis of Tall Ship Productions, David Weddle, Bradley Thompson, Seth Edelstein, and Kira Snyder.
