9-1-1 will return for another season on ABC!

The network has renewed the first-responder drama for Season 8 — its second season at its new broadcast home, according to TV Line. This early renewal comes less than a week after its three-episode cruise ship arc ended with 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 3, “Capsized,” on Thursday, March 28.

News of an eighth season also comes days before the drama series celebrates its 100th episode with 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 4, “Buck Bothered and Bewildered,” on Thursday, April 4, at 8/7c on ABC.

The first-responder drama series has made quite a splash on ABC.

9-1-1 moved to the new network after FOX canceled the series but kept its spinoff, 9-1-1: Lone Star, which will return for Season 5 in 2024

The mothership series concluded its run on FOX with 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 18, “Pay It Forward,” in May 2023. 

The epic drama made its ABC debut with 9-1-1 Season 7 Episode 1, “Abandon ‘Ships,” on March 14, at 8/7c. The series joined ABC’s Thursday night line-up, which includes Grey’s Anatomy at 9/8c and Station 19 at 10/9c.

After the season premiere, ABC shared that it delivered 9-1-1‘s highest-rated multiplatform telecast in nearly two years among adults 18-49, and the series scored its most-streamed day ever on Hulu.

“Abandon ‘Ships” “pulled in approximately 11.8 million multiplatform viewers in its first seven days of availability, with the show ranking as the most-watched ABC current series across all platforms this season,” per ABC via Variety.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 stars Angela Bassett, Peter Krause, Oliver Stark, Aisha Hinds, Kenneth Choi, Ryan Guzman, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Gavin McHugh. Minear serves as the series’ showrunner.
