9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 Premiere Pushed to Fall 2024 on FOX
The 126 isn’t returning to the small screen for a bit longer.
9-1-1: Lone Star Season 5 won’t premiere until fall 2024 on FOX. The network renewed the procedural drama for its fifth season in May 2023.
That announcement included the news that 9-1-1 would end its run on FOX with its sixth season before moving to ABC for Season 7.
TV Line reports 9-1-1: Lone Star “was expected to return this spring along with many other network TV shows after the dual Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes were resolved.” For instance, CBS announced its premiere and return dates for its 2024 primetime schedule.
The Writers Guild of America’s strike ended in September after striking a deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), while SAG-AFTRA’s strike ended earlier this month.
Now, 9-1-1: Lone Star will return with a 12-episode fifth season next fall. Deadline reports that Fox 20th Television discussed an 18-episode order, with six episodes for midseason and 12 for the fall. However, plans changed as SAG-AFTRA’s strike continued.
TV Line’s report shares that a source told the outlet “that the economics of a full season just wouldn’t work, even for a successful show like this.”
9-1-1: Lone Star premiered in 2020 as a spinoff of 9-1-1, which debuted in 2018. The procedural drama wrapped up its fourth season with 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 4 Episode 18, “In Sickness and in Health,” on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, on FOX.
Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk and co-creator Tim Minear, 9-1-1: Lone Star stars Rob Lowe as Capt. Owen Strand, Gina Torres as Capt. Tommy Vega, Ronen Rubinstein as T.K. Strand, Sierra McClain as Grace Ryder, and Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder.
The show also stars Natacha Karam as Marjan Marwani, Brian Michael Smith as Paul Stickland, Rafael Silva as Carlos Reyes, and Julian Works as Mateo Chavez.
Murphy, Falchuk, and Minear also write and executive produce the series. Bradley Buecker directs and executive produces. Rob Lowe and Alexis Martin Woodall also executive produce 9-1-1: Lone Star.
