News

Chrissy Metz and Katie Lowes are among the new series regulars for STARZ’s upcoming thriller series, The Hunting Wives.

Metz, in her first TV role since This Is Us, and Lowes (Scandal) join the drama series alongside Jamie Ray Newman (Dopesick) and George Ferrier (One of Us Is Lying). The quartet’s addition comes after the previously announced casting of Malin Åkerman, Brittany Snow, Dermot Mulroney, and Evan Jonigkeit.

Based on the novel by May Cobb, The Hunting Wives “tells the story of Sophie and her family’s move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank’s irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder,” per its synopsis.

Metz will portray Starr, Abby’s mother, “a proud working-class woman, and staunch Christian.” Even though Starr is an active participant at church and her daughter is well in the social circle from dating the star point guard Brad, “the high-society world of the Hunting Wives” ices Starr out.

Consequently, Starr clashes “fiercely with Brad’s mother, Jill.” Lowes stars as Jill, Reverend Clint’s wife, mega-church queen, and mother of Brad, for whom she will do anything to protect. Jill takes up an overinvestment in her son’s life because “she’s trapped in a loveless marriage.”

Ferrier joins The Hunting Wives as Brad, the perceivably “perfect All-Texan boy,” who”is the keeper of many secrets – including an emotionally incestuous relationship with his mother Jill, and an affair with one of his mother’s best friends.”

Finally, Newman will portray Callie, Sheriff Jonny’s wife and “a powerhouse in her own right” as “an amazing marksman” and “the second in command of the Hunting Wives.” Callie “is also deeply in love with Margo and jealous of Sophie’s newfound influence.”
