Apple TV+ Announces New and Returning Programming for 2024
Apple TV+ has a star-studded slate of original series returning and premiering in 2024.
At the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association press tour, the streaming service revealed some first looks at various series that will premiere globally in the spring and summer.
The presentations included the following previously-announced series — The New Look (Wednesday, February 14), The Dynasty: New England Patriots (Friday, February 16), Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin (Friday, February 16), Constellation (Wednesday, February 21), and Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend (Wednesday, February 21).
While those projects have premiere dates and trailers, Apple TV+ offered one or both for its other upcoming original programming, including The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin, Manhunt, Palm Royale, Sugar, Dark Matter, Presumed Innocent, Land of Women, and more.
The streamer also unveiled the first looks at the new seasons of Loot, The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy, The Big Door Prize, Acapulco, and Trying.

We can’t wait for everyone to experience what we have in store,” Cherniss added.
THE COMPLETELY MADE-UP ADVENTURES OF DICK TURPIN
PREMIERE DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 1
As previously reported, the comedy-adventure series starring Noel Fielding as the titular highway robber and reluctant leader of a band of outlaws makes its two-episode debut on Friday, March 1.
Then, its weekly release will chronicle follow Dick and his gang of lovable rogues as they are “tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde,” per its synopsis.
The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin also stars Ellie White, Marc Wootton, Duayne Boachie, Bonneville, Tamsin Greig, Asim Chaudhry, Dolly Wells, Joe Wilkinson, Mark Heap, Geoff McGivern, Michael Fielding, Samuel Leakey, and Kiri Flaherty.
THE RELUCTANT TRAVELER WITH EUGENE LEVY
PREMIERE DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 8
Eugene Levy is back with The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy Season 2. All seven episodes drop at once and chronicle Levy’s grand tour of Europe, including a visit to his mother’s childhood homeland of Scotland for the first time.
The travel show’s second season will also feature adventures to explore French cuisine in Saint-Tropez, a wellness journey on the island of Sylt, a Greek fishing expedition around Milos, as well as stops in Italy and Seville, Spain.
Twofour produces The Reluctant Traveler with Eugene Levy for Apple TV+. Levy, David Brindley, Nic Patten, and Sara Brailsford executive produce the series.
MANHUNT
PREMIERE DATE: FRIDAY, MARCH 15
The previously-announced, seven-part true crime limited series, Manhunt, received its trailer. Based on James L. Swanson’s award-winning nonfiction book and created by Monica Beletsky, the series has a two-episode debut on Friday, March 15, with new episodes dropping weekly.
Manhunt “is a conspiracy thriller about one of the best known but least understood crimes in history: the astonishing story of the hunt for John Wilkes Booth in the aftermath of Abraham Lincoln’s assassination,” per its synopsis.
It stars Tobias Menzies as Edwin Stanton, Anthony Boyle as John Wilkes Booth, Lovie Simone, Will Harrison, Brandon Flynn, Damian O’Hare, Glenn Morshower, Patton Oswalt, Matt Walsh, and Hamish Linklater as Abraham Lincoln.
PALM ROYALE
PREMIERE DATE: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20
Starring and executive-produced by Kristen Wiig, Palm Royale follows Maxine Simmons in 1969 as she tries to break into Palm Beach high society, breaching the line between the haves and have-nots.
The series loosely based on Juliet McDaniel’s Mr. & Mrs. American Pie has its three-episode debut on Wednesday, March 20. New episodes of its 10-episode season featuring a renowned ensemble will be released weekly.
Alongside Wiig, Palm Royale stars Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Ricky Martin, Josh Lucas, Leslie Bibb, Amber Chardae Robinson, Mindy Cohn, Julia Duffy, and Kaia Gerber. The series will also feature “extra special guest-star turns” by Bruce Dern and Carol Burnett.
FRAGGLE ROCK: BACK TO THE ROCK
PREMIERE DATE: Friday, March 29
Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock, the previously announced reboot of Him Henson’s Fraggle Rock, is back with its second season on Friday, March 29.
“This time, with big changes affecting the Rock, the Fraggles, Doozers, and Gorgs, they will be forced to confront their past and celebrate their interdependence as they move through challenges together with hope, silliness, and brand new songs, all while dancing their cares, away … down at Fraggle Rock,” per the synopsis.
Daveed Diggs returns for Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock Season 2 alongside Ariana DeBose, Brett Goldstein, and Catherine O’Hara as guest stars.
LOOT
PREMIERE DATE: Wednesday, April 3
The comedy series starring and executive produced by Maya Rudolph is back for its 10-episode second season on Wednesday, April 3. Loot Season 2 will have a two-episode debut, with new episodes released weekly.
The second season begins a year after Molly Wells settles her very public divorce, and she is thriving as the head of her philanthropic organization, the Wells Foundation. “Focused mainly on her charity work, Molly has sworn off any new relationships with men,” per the season’s synopsis.
Alongside Rudolph, Loot stars Adam Scott, Joel Kim Booster, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, O-T Fagbenle, Ron Funches, Nat Faxon, Meagen Fay, and Stephanie Styles.
SUGAR
PREMIERE DATE: Friday, April 5
The eight-episode drama starring Colin Farrel as John Sugar, “an American private investigator on the heels of the mysterious disappearance of Olivia Siegel, the beloved granddaughter of legendary Hollywood producer Jonathan Siegel,” debuts its first three episodes on Friday, April 5, with new episodes weekly.
“As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried,” per Sugar‘s synopsis.
The unique take on the private detective story also stars Kirby, Amy Ryan, James Cromwell, Anna Gunn, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry, Sydney Chandler, and Alex Hernandez.
GIRL STATE

PREMIERE DATE: Friday, April 5
Girls State is a documentary that debuted at the Sundance Film Festival and “follows 500 teenage girls from across Missouri as they gather for a weeklong immersion in an elaborate laboratory of democracy,” per its synopsis.
“They build a government from the ground up, campaign for office, and form a Supreme Court to weigh the most divisive issues of the day” in the doc directed and produced by filmmakers Jesse Moss and Amanda McBaine.
Girls State is a Concordia Studio presentation of a Mile End Films production.
FRANKLIN

PREMIERE DATE: Friday, April 12
A new limited series starring and executive produced by Michael Douglas and based on Stacy Schiff’s book A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America makes its three-episode debut on Friday, April 12. New episodes of the eight-episode series will be released weekly.
Franklin follows “the thrilling story of the greatest gamble of Benjamin Franklin’s career. In December 1776, Franklin is world famous for his electrical experiments, but his passion and power are put to the test when — as the fate of American independence hangs in the balance — he embarks on a secret mission to France,” per its synopsis.
Alongside Douglas, the series also stars Noah Jupe as Temple Franklin, Thibault de Montalembert as Comte de Vergennes, Daniel Mays as Edward Bancroft, Ludivine Sagnier as Madame Brillon, Eddie Marsan as John Adams, Assaad Bouab as Beaumarchais, Jeanne Balibar as Madame Helvétius and Théodore Pellerin as Marquis de Lafayette.
THE BIG DOOR PRIZE

PREMIERE DATE: Wednesday, April 24
The Big Door Prize‘s 10-episode second season “follows the residents of Deerfield as the Morpho machine readies them for the mysterious “next stage.” As everyone’s potentials are exchanged for visions, new relationships form, and new questions are asked,” per its synopsis.
The series based on M.O. Walsh’s novel The Big Door Prize returns with two episodes of Season 2 on Wednesday, April 24, followed by weekly releases.
The Big Door Prize stars Chris O’Dowd, Gabrielle Dennis, Djouliet Amara, Sammy Fourlas, Josh Seggara, Crystal Fox, Ally Maki, and Damon Gupton.
ACAPULCO

PREMIERE DATE: Wednesday, May 1
The bilingual Apple Original comedy series Acapulco returns for its 10-episode third season on Wednesday, May 1. New episodes will be released weekly after that two-episode season premiere. Season 3 is all about reconciling past mistakes and exciting new beginnings.
Starring and executive producer by Eugenio Derbez, Season 3 finds older Maximo “returning to a Las Colinas he no longer recognizes” in the present story. “While in 1985, younger Maximo continues his climb up the ladder of success while potentially jeopardizing all the relationships he’s worked so hard to build,” per the synopsis.
Acapulco stars Derbez, Enrique Arrizon, Fernando Carsa, Damián Alcázar, Camila Perez, Vanessa Bauche, Regina Reynoso, Raphael Alejandro, Jessica Collins, Rafael Cebrián, Carlos Corona and Regina Orozco and the recurring guest stars, Cristo Fernandez and Jaime Camil.
DARK MATTER
PREMIERE DATE: Wednesday, May 8
The sci-fi thriller series based on the book by Blake Crouch makes its two-episode debut on Wednesday, May 8. New episodes of its nine-episode season will be released weekly.
Dark Matter follows “Jason Dessen, a physicist, professor, and family man who — one night while walking home on the streets of Chicago — is abducted into an alternate version of his life,” per its synopsis. Joel Edgerton stars as Jason.
Alongside Edgerton, Dark Matter stars Jennifer Connelly, Alice Braga, Jimmi Simpson, Dayo Okeniyi, and Oakes Fegley.
TRYING

PREMIERE DATE: Wednesday, May 22
The critically acclaimed comedy series starring Esther Smith and Rafe Spall returns for its eight-episode fourth season with a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, May 22. New episodes of Trying Season 4 will be released weekly.
Trying‘s fourth season jumps six years into the future “to discover that Nikki and Jason are experienced adopters who have built a lovely little nuclear family, enriched by an extraordinary support network. However, as their teenage daughter, Princess, starts to yearn for a connection with her birth mother, Nikki and Jason find themselves confronted with the ultimate test of their parenting skills,” per its synopsis.
Alongside Smith and Spall, the series stars Sian Brooke as Karen, Darren Boyd as Scott, and it welcomes Scarlett Rayner as Princes and Cooper Turner as Tyler.
PRESUMED INNOCENT

PREMIERE DATE: Friday, June 14
A new eight-episode limited series starring and executive produced by Jake Gyllenhaal makes its tw0-episode debut on Friday, June 14, with new episodes to be released weekly. Presumed Innocent comes from David E. Kelley and executive producer J.J. Abrams and is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Turrow.
Gyllenhaal stars in the thriller as chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich. Presumed Innocent follows the “gripping journey through a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when one of its own is suspected of the crime,” per its synopsis.
Alongside Gyllenhaal, the series stars Ruth Negga, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Peter Sarsgaard, O-T Fagbenle, and Renate Reinsve.
LAND OF WOMEN

PREMIERE DATE: Summer of 2024
The six-episode dramedy starring executive producer Eva Longoria, the legendary Carmen Maura, and newcomer Victoria Bazúa is coming to Apple TV+ this summer. Based on Sandra Barneda’s novel of the same name, Land of Women is shot in English and Spanish and will be available to watch in both languages.
Longoria stars as Gala, “a New York empty nester whose life is turned upside down when her husband implicates the family in financial improprieties and she is forced to flee the city alongside her aging mother and college-age daughter,” per the synopsis.
To escape the criminals to whom Gala’s husband is indebted, the three women hide in the wine town in northern Spain that Gala’s mother fled 50 years ago and vowed never to return. There, they want to keep their identities a secret, but gossip spreads quickly in the small town, revealing deep family secrets and truths.
