FERB, PHINEAS, PERRY THE PLATYPUS 20 Best Phineas and Ferb Original Songs — Ranked!

20 Best Phineas and Ferb Original Songs — Ranked!

Lists

The 2000s Disney Channel cartoon Phineas and Ferb became an instant classic among kids and adults alike.

Stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb make it their mission to make the most out of their summer vacation by creating extravagant inventions to enjoy with their friends, much to their sister Candace’s dismay.

One of the most memorable parts of the original series is how many quality songs have been written for the show. Throughout its run, the series has produced some delightfully catchy songs.

Here are our picks for the 20 best songs of the series:

20. I Gave Up

phineas and ferb candace

The juxtaposition of cheerfully singing about something bleak is what makes “I Give Up” so humorous.

Candace happily singing about how she’s giving up on busting her brothers with an entire choir of herself to back her up is honestly quite validating. It’s easy to relate to Candace as we’ve all had times when we’ve wanted to give up on something that feels too difficult.

We all know she will never give up on busting her brothers, but it’s funny to see her try for an episode.

19. Thank You Santa

christmas phineas and ferb

The first-ever Christmas special for Phineas and Ferb asked us to consider that Santa does so much for us every year. What can we do to give back to him?

After Phineas, Ferb, and their friends go to great lengths to deliver presents to everyone in Dansville when Santa initially believes everyone is “naughty,” we see a montage of characters exchanging presents with each other that perfectly correspond with their characters’ personalities.

It’s so fitting of Baljeet to be gifted a calculator and Beuford a baseball bat, to which Beuford immediately uses his baseball bat to destroy Baljeet’s calculator.

This song is so cheerful and puts you in that warm Christmas spirit. It’s a great ending to a heartwarming Christmas special about spreading kindness to everyone and remembering to thank the people in your life who do selfless things for you.

18. I Love You, Mom

phineas and ferb

On Phineas and Ferb Season 1 Episode 11, “Mom’s Birthday,” Candace writes and performs her original number, “I Love You, Mom,” for her mother’s birthday.

For most of the episode, we see Candace struggle to give her mom an amazing birthday. Every idea Candace has, her brothers beat her to it. The satisfaction that Candace’s performance comes out great and that her mom loves it makes it all the more heartwarming.

Every episode we see Candace frantically trying to prove to her mother that her brothers are up to something in the backyard.

This is one of the rare moments we see Candace slow down to appreciate her mother for being there for her when she freaks out about her brothers and accepts her for who she is.

17. My Nemesis

phineas and ferb

Name a more iconic pairing than Perry the Platypus and Dr. Doofenshmirtz.

“My Nemesis” features Dr. Doofenshmirtz remembering when he first met Perry. For all their fighting, deep down they enjoy each other’s company. This is why Perry could never be replaced by another secret agent.

Normally, having a nemesis would be a nightmare, but for Perry and Doofenshmirtz, they appreciate each other in their own weird way.

It goes to show that having a nemesis is not always a bad thing, and we adore Perry and Doofenshmirtz’s interactions together.

16. Little Brothers

phineas and ferb

Phineas and Ferb Season 1 Episode 45, “Phineas and Ferb Get Busted!,” shocks us all when the unthinkable happens: Candace finally busts her brothers.

The viewers and even Candace herself are left unsettled. She starts to miss her brothers and reminisces on the times they shared when they were younger in “Little Brothers.”

It is a great song because it’s a mix of sincerity and humor. There is sincerity in Candace caring for her little brothers, “even when [they’re] making too much noise.”

The funniest part of the song is how it just states the dictionary definition of what little brothers are: they’re younger, they’re related, and they’re boys.

It’s so sweet to see Candace’s real heart shine through when thinking of her little brothers.

15. Backyard Beach

phineas and ferb

Phineas and Ferb Season 1 Episode 2, “Lawn Gnome Beach Party of Terror,” is a tropical-filled episode where Phineas and Ferb decide to build a beach in their backyard.

Being only the second episode in the entire series, it’s a great introduction to the incredible things Phineas and Ferb can build. Much of Phineas and Ferb‘s charm is creating impossible contraptions and experiences that can only exist in a cartoon and a child’s wild imagination.

Such grand, imaginative benefits of having a beach in your backyard include “skiin’, parasailin’ / surfin’ and a-flailin’ / your contacts need saline or else you can’t see.”

Okay, maybe the contacts needing saline part isn’t so magical, but adding that in just because it rhymes and to add humor to the song works well to balance out the zany.

14. Perry the Platypus Theme

phineas and ferb

For most kids growing up with Phineas and Ferb, hearing the “doo-bee doo-bee doo-ba” would be instantly recognizable as the Perry the Platypus theme song.

Every cool spy needs a theme song about how badass they are, and a teal platypus is no exception.

The theme song is reminiscent of “Secret Agent Man” by Johnny Rivers. They both have similar melodies and possess an air of mystery and intrigue.

Perry is such a beloved mascot of the series, and he deserves such a great theme song.

13. Hey Ferb

phineas and ferb

On Phineas and Ferb Season 2 Episode 63, “Rollercoaster: The Musical!,” Phineas suggests to Ferb that they recreate the giant rollercoaster they built at the beginning of summer, but “this time with song and dancing” in a musical episode.

This catchy tune combines all the impressive contraptions Phineas and Ferb built all summer long while also celebrating a vast history of beloved musical theater.

Phineas prances around the backyard in a top hat and tailcoat, trying to convince Ferb to go along with his plan. Phineas and Ferb are then transported into a montage of different musicals.

They dance as cats in Cats, wave the French flag in Les Miserables, sail down the tunnels in Phantom of the Opera, twirl around a lamppost in Singin’ in the Rain, play the violin in Fiddler on the Roof, and so many more musical references.

There is nothing more fun than musical episodes, especially ones that fully embrace its musicality. It’s obvious that the writers of this song and episode love musicals and took great care to reference them accurately.

12. Gitchee-Gitchee Goo

phineas and ferb

“Gitchee Gitchee Goo” is one of the most memorable and earworm-prone songs of the show.

If you ask someone who grew up with Phineas and Ferb what “Gitchee-Gitchee Goo” means, they will automatically respond with “I love you.”

On Phineas and Ferb Season 1 Episode 3, “Flop Starz,” Phineas and Ferb decide to find out if they could become one-hit wonders. They write this song, and it’s a success! Fortunately, Phineas and Ferb became more than one-hit wonders with all the songs they have performed on the show.

This song was voted number one in the “Phineas and Ferb Musical Cliptastic Countdown” episode where the show had its song rankings submitted by viewers. With how beloved it is, it’s not hard to see why.

11. There’s a Platypus Controlling Me

phineas and ferb

When Dr. Doofenshmirtz tries to control Perry’s actions with his Devolition-ator, Dr. Doofenshmirtz gets a taste of his own medicine. His hands get stuck on a record player while Perry controls his movements. Fortunately, Perry helps Dr. Doofenshmirtz throw down the sickest track in the junkyard.

Doofenshmirtz is legitimately being controlled to spin records by Perry the Platypus, but his teenage audience believes the platypus is a metaphor for “whatever is keeping you down” like corporations, teachers, and the media.

It’s cool that Doofenshmirtz’s record improvising turned into a message about capitalism. The repetitive lyrics and the beat of the song make you want to nod your head in agreement.

Seeing Doofenshmirtz be embraced by young people on the show and in real life brings out a sense of validation. We know he is not truly evil, he is just a goofy dad trying to support his family. Seeing this fun side of him helps balance out all his evil schemes.

10. E.V.I.L. B.O.Y.S.

phineas and ferb

In the song “E.V.I.L. B.O.Y.S.,” Candace is battling a wild parsnip allergy that causes her to have a raspy voice and red skin. Isabella’s mother encourages Candace to testify to her mother about everything the boys have done so far in the summer, recapping everything they’ve done so far during Season 1.

It’s entertaining to hear Dan Povenmire’s deep, scratchy voice come out of Candace’s mouth. Candace deserves a moment to vent about busting her brothers

Having her “testify” in song instead of a regular scene adds to Candace’s rage and elevates the humor of her sounding like an angry adult man.

9. Summer Belongs to You

phineas and ferb

“Summer Belongs to You” is the epic finale of the one-hour special of the same name.

The episode and the song serve as a celebration of making the best out of every summer day and how Phineas, Ferb, and their friends overcame the challenges of their 24-hour day.

This song feels like it encapsulates the entire essence of the show. Phineas, Isabella, and Candace all get a verse singing about what they learned and how grateful they are they pushed through their hardships.

It’s a really sweet way of showing the viewer that if our favorite characters can get out and achieve their dreams, then we can too.

8. You Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart

phineas and ferb

“Snuck Your Way Right Into My Heart” is the song Linda and Lawrence have their first kiss to at Love Händel’s farewell concert. This is the most treasured memory between them (that Lawrence keeps proof of in his toolbox of all places). Hence making it a perfect song to celebrate their wedding anniversary.

Linda and Lawrence are such a sweet, supportive couple. It’s nice to see them get an episode that honors their love.

The entire episode builds up the anticipation of finally getting to see Love Händel perform as a unified band, not just the three members performing separately. This big romantic surprise of Linda getting to see her favorite band reunited for her wedding anniversary is so satisfying to watch.

7. Disco Miniature Golfing Queen

phineas and ferb

On Phineas and Ferb Season 1 Episode 36, “Put that Putter Away,” Phineas and Ferb build a gigantic extravagant mini golf course. Stacy wins, crowning her the Disco Miniature Golfing Queen!

The disco music mixed with the bright pops of color and 70s fashion make the song that much more enticing.

We always see Stacy as a secondary character to Candace, so it was nice to finally see Stacy receive a moment of celebration for the great, talented person she is.

She is giving everything in this number. Style? Designer flared jeans and golf hats. Dancing? Her hips are swaying. Success? She’s on the cover of a “disco golf magazine.”

It’s the type of song you can’t help but dance along to with a smile on your face. We love seeing Stacy shine in her element.

6. A-G-L-E-T

phineas and ferb

Every kid who grew up watching Phineas and Ferb knows what the thing at the end of a shoelace is called thanks to this song.

The cultural significance of “A-G-L-E-T” cannot be overstated. It is the reason why people know what an aglet is.

Simple lyrics spelling out the word “aglet” to a catchy tune is all it takes to make you never forget it. It helps that A-G-L-E-T is repeated over and over in every line of the song.

The collective bond this song has brought to an entire generation of people is a huge achievement for the songwriting team of Phineas and Ferb.

5. History of Rock

phineas and ferb

Phineas and Ferb get a music lesson from the first band member of Love Händel they meet, Danny.

Blues, psychedelia, funk, and metal are all featured in the song to show Phineas and Ferb how much music has changed Danny’s life for the better. They join Danny in playing music with him during this number.

What is so captivating about this song is that it takes you through different genres of music through its sound and visuals. It even educates the viewer on rock history. For instance, Danny tells Phineas that the guitar solo came from psychedelia.

The different genres of music build on top of one another. Danny says that all the genres are still the blues, just in a different flavor.

Like Danny, how music influences someone can tell a whole story. This song connects with the viewers who have their own musical stories to tell.

4. Fabulous

phineas and ferb

Phineas and Ferb go to Bobbi Fabulous’ hair salon to convince him to return to playing bass for Love Händel. They convince him that not only is he needed in the band for his bass-playing skills, but he is also needed for his fabulous hair, fashion, and skincare influences.

Bobbi’s energy is infectious. The positive vibes of the song match his personality.

There is a point where Bobbi sings “No two people are like each other / So don’t be a lookalike copying another / Unless of course you’re copying me / ‘Cause that gives you individuality.” Bobbi created this entire empire outside of Love Händel that people adore so much they want to copy it.

“Fabulous” reminds us it is important to have self-love and not shy away from our unique strengths because people might enjoy our authentic selves.

3. S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)

phineas and ferb

“S.I.M.P. (Squirrels in My Pants)” is a memorable staple of Phineas and Ferb‘s songs. It gets you pumped up and wanting to chant “S-I-M-P” along with the 2 Guys in the Parque.

The absurdity of this song is what makes it so memorable and fun. Candace really does have squirrels in her pants, but everyone around her thinks she is just breakdancing.

Candace’s erratic movements being mistaken for breakdancing are so funny. It is one of the first things people think of when they hear the song.

Having a group of hip-hop rappers improvise a song about a girl with squirrels in her pants is the kind of silly hijink that makes Phineas and Ferb have the best songs of any cartoon.

2. Busted

phineas and ferb

Someone else finally understands Candace’s struggle of trying to bust her brothers: Vanessa, Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s daughter.

Candace and Vanessa sing together about how they are finally going to bust their respective family members. Candace tries to bust her brothers for building things in the backyard, and Vanessa tries to bust her father for being evil.

Candace and Vanessa hardly ever had interacting storylines, so it is exciting to see them join forces in a song together. It’s satisfying to see Candace not be alone in her busting quest.

Two queens coming together to maximize their joint power is something we are all happy to root for as we listen to this song. It’s a catchy tune that makes you want to dance along with Candace and Vanessa.

1. Ain’t Got Rhythm

phineas and ferb

The Emmy-nominated song “Ain’t Got Rhythm” is a fan favorite and is undoubtedly the best song in the entire show.

Swampy is the last Love Händel band member Phineas and Ferb have to convince to reunite for their parents’ wedding anniversary concert.

The more Swampy denies having rhythm, the more he gets the hang of having it. Seeing that played out with Swampy nonchalantly drumming on books in perfect rhythm is peak visual and musical storytelling.

It’s such a creative choice to have the characters make rhythm out of pencils and books. It shows that music can be accessible to anyone; you don’t need to know how to play an instrument to be able to make it.

Swampy finding his rhythm through the basics shows that he hasn’t lost his rhythm just yet.

BONUS – Today is Gonna Be a Great Day

phineas and ferb

The Phineas and Ferb theme song feels too legendary to exist on a ranked list. It lives on another plane of existence, but it deserves to be acknowledged because it is probably the most memorable song from the series.

Whether you are a one-time viewer or a dedicated fan, you will still feel a wave of nostalgia when you hear “There’s 104 days of summer vacation…”

Bowling for Soup’s vocals and electric guitar add to the feeling of adventure that Phineas and Ferb cultivated in every episode.
