NCIS: Hawai’i is back in production for Season 3!

The NCISverse show celebrated its return to production after the resolution of the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA’s strikes.

On Monday, December 4, the CBS drama marked the occasion with a traditional Hawaiian blessing ceremony on O’ahu in honor of its host Hawaiian culture.

NCIS: Hawai’i stars Vanessa Lachey, Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Jason Antoon, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Tori Anderson, and special guest star LL COOL J participated alongside the show’s producers and crew.

CBS announced in May 2023 that LL COOL J would reprise his NCIS: Los Angeles role as Sam Hanna in a special guest star role on NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3.

LL COOL J interacted with the NCIS: Hawai’i crew in the NCISverse’s first three-show crossover, which aired in January 2023. His first appearance teasing his special guest starring role for the upcoming season was on NCIS: Hawai’i Season 2 Episode 22, “Dies Irae,” on Monday, May 22, 2023.

The network renewed the procedural drama for its third season in February 2023.

Kahu (officiant) Kahu Aukai Kekoa officiated the ceremony to begin production on Season 3. It featured traditional royal maile leis, Oli Aloha (welcoming chant) and Pule Ho’oku’u (closing prayer).

“For the third season, the ceremony centered around the connections that the number three represents with the past, present, and future, as well as togetherness, completeness as a team and moving forward as a family,” per CBS.

NCIS: Hawai’i Season 3 premieres on Monday, February 12, at 10/9c on CBS and streaming on Paramount+. Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber executive produce and CBS Studios produces the show, which debuted with NCIS: Hawai’i Season 1 Episode 1, “Pilot,” in September 2021.

This addition to the franchise takes place in Hawai’i when the first female Special Agent in Charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor, Lachey’s Jane Tennant, takes command of a team that balances duty to family and country during high-stakes investigations.
