LL Cool J to Reprise ‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Role on ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ Season 3
Only a day after NCIS: Los Angeles‘ series finale, LL Cool J’s Sam Hanna returns to the small screen with a surprise cameo on NCIS: Hawai’i‘s Season 2 finale.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 15, “New Beginnings, Part Two,” relocates Sam and Chris O’Donnell’s Callen to Morocco.
That proximity of “a few borders and an ocean” leads Sam to assist Vanessa Lachey’s Jane Tennant and Tori Anderson’s Kate Whistler in Venezuela on NCIS: Hawai’i, “Dies Irae.”

After “Dies Irae” aired, CBS announced that LL Cool J would join NCIS: Hawai’i‘s previously-confirmed third season in a recurring guest star role.
“All of us at NCIS: Hawai’i have been huge fans of LL Cool J for years and couldn’t be more thrilled or honored to be adding his spectacular talent to our ohana for season three,” executive producers Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber said.
LL Cool J first interacted with the NCIS: Hawai’i characters during the NCIS franchise’s three-show crossover earlier this year.
“One of the most beautiful things about working on NCIS: Hawai’i is the show’s ability to bring the franchise together. We have had so much fun spreading the aloha to NCIS and NCIS: LA with the triple crossover,” series star Vanessa Lachey said.

“Now, we have the amazing opportunity to bring Sam Hanna to Hawai’i to help the island solve some cases and maybe have a few laughs in the process. Welcome to the ohana, Todd! It’s going to be a fun ride!” Lachey added.
LL Cool J took to social media to celebrate the news, writing, “Couldn’t keep Sam Hanna off the case for too long!!” on Twitter.
Full details about LL Cool J’s role in NCIS: Hawai’i‘s upcoming season are still under wraps, but his arrival on the spinoff series gives hope that perhaps other NCIS: Los Angeles stars will visit their friend Sam Hanna in Hawai’i.
NCIS: Hawai’i stars Vanessa Lachey, Alex Tarrant, Noah Mills, Yasmine Al-Bustami, Jason Antoon, and Tori Anderson. Matt Bosack, Jan Nash, and Christopher Silber are executive producers. CBS Studios produces the series.
