Get ready to spend the holidays with Night Court before its Season 2 premiere.
The holiday special, “A Night Court Before Christmas,” premieres on Saturday, December 23 at 8:30/7:30c on NBC, following the special premiere of the comedy Extended Family. As previously reported, the latter debuts after the NFL game between Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
The special stand-alone episode features naughty naked carolers and drunken St. Nicks as the festivities come to Night Court. A lost letter to Santa, an unexpected present, and a holiday ghost tie together “A Night Court Before Christmas.”

NBA Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will make a guest-starring appearance on “A Night Court Before Christmas.”
Night CourtSeason 2 will officially premiere on Tuesday, January 2, at 8/7c on NBC.
The new Night Court follows “the eternally optimistic Abby Stone follows in the footsteps of her revered late father, Judge Harry Stone, as she takes on the challenge of overseeing the night shift of a Manhattan arraignment court,” per its synopsis. The original series aired for nine seasons from 1984 to 1992.
Abby enlists the former night court district attorney Dan Fielding as the court’s public defender. Melissa Rauch and John Larroquette star as Abby and Dan, respectively. Night Court‘s cast includes India de Beaufort as Olivia, Kapil Talwalkar as Neil, and Lacretta as Donna “Gurgs” Gurganous.

Based on the original series, Night Court comes from executive producer and writer Dan Rub.
Melissa Rauch and Winston Rauch executive produce through their After January Productions. Mona Garcea oversees for After January Productions, and John Larroquette serves as a producer.
Rauch’s After January Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, produces Night Court.
Episode description: It’s Christmastime at Night Court. Abby enlists Dan on her quest to track down a little girl’s letter to Santa. Gurgs’ gift for Dan isn’t what she expected. Olivia is haunted by a witness who believes herself to be The Ghost of Christmas Present.
