Good Burger 2 Review: The Silly Charm Of The Original But With Slight Maturity
The world didn’t need another Good Burger movie. However, Good Burger 2 proves that sometimes it’s okay to indulge in fun silly things for the sake of fun silly things.
Not everything needs a purpose.
Nonetheless, Good Burger 2 has a purpose: it’s a shot of nostalgia. If you grew up watching All That, Good Burger, and Kenan & Kel, then this movie is a big deal.

Thankfully, the film matures slightly to appeal to the Millennials and Gen X fans who are probably watching. However, it remains almost as silly as the first one.
This makes it child-friendly and a movie the entire family can watch.
Good Burger 2 has plenty of genuinely funny moments, including the celebrities singing to save Good Burger montage.
This film may actually be funnier than the first movie. Because it blends wacky humor and some cleverly thought-out gags, it appeals to varying styles of comedy fans.
Kel Mitchell plays Ed with the same endearing goofiness that made the character memorable. However, Kenan Thompson stands out a bit more in this film than the original.

He has an inherent wholesomeness that makes him feel fatherly and like a true friend. This makes it easy for Dexter to scheme but still remain likable.
As someone who grew up watching Kenan & Kel, I didn’t realize how much I missed that dynamic until I saw their screen reunion in Good Burger 2.
The Good Burger films work well because of the dynamic between Kenan and Kel. They’re enjoyable to watch apart, but magic happens when paired.
Now, I wouldn’t mind a Kenan & Kel movie.

The goofiness, fart gags, and cartoonish villains are fun, but the heart and allure of the Good Burger films are the leads.
Additionally, for those who grew up watching Kenan and Kel in various projects, this film feels like a reunion. The kind where the whole gang gets back together for another crazy adventure.
It reminds you why you enjoy spending time with these people. However, it’s just enough time to avoid boredom or create any annoyance or hostility.
The entire Good Burger 2 cast also delivers entertaining performances. The new generation of Good Burger employees are interesting but they don’t overshadow the leads.
Jillian Bell and Lil Rel Howery are perfect wicked and wacky villains. Howery has some funny lines but he plays a more grounded villain. Bell gets to go full cartoon maniac, similar to her character’s brother, Kurt.

Katt, Kurt, and Cecil make creating captivating but child-friendly villains look easy. They capture the fun nature of making unnecessary evil plans and being deeply unserious people.
Good Burger 2 is entertaining but predictable. You can predict everything that will happen just by watching the trailer.
However, no one watches family-friendly movies for intricate plots and surprises.
Because the film is comfort food you don’t need a lot of substance to feel satisfied and full. It gives just enough of the good stuff to make the trip down memory lane worth it.
Good Burger 2 sticks to the hits but matures enough to not seem weirdly juvenile. It comes off as endearing and nostalgic fun.
