‘Young Royals’ Season 3 Clip Teases What’s Next for Wilhelm and Simon
A glimpse at what’s next for Wilhelm and Simon during Young Royals Season 3 is here.
The new clip, released by Netflix, is the first look at the show’s upcoming season, coming in 2024. Netflix announced the Nordic drama’s third and final season in December 2022, a month after Season 2 premiered on the streaming service.
Young Royals debuted with a six-episode first season in 2021, showing what happens when Prince Wilhelm attends the prestigious boarding school Hillerska and explores his true self and what he wants out of life.
“Wilhelm starts dreaming of a future filled with freedom and unconditional love far away from the royal obligations – but when he unexpectedly becomes next in line for the throne, his dilemma is heightened as he has to make a choice. Love or duty,” per the show’s official synopsis.
After two complicated seasons of the ups and downs, Edvin Ryding’s Wilhelm ends Season 3 by publicly declaring his love to Omar Rudberg’s Simon. Young Royals‘s final season will see if Wilmon (the affectionately given name for Wilhelm and Simon’s relationship) will end up together.
As the new footage shows, Wilhelm and Simon reunite at Wilhelm’s fancy — and royal — home, but the conditions could be better. For example, Wilhelm is in disbelief that Simon is there but says, “I just wish it wasn’t for this reason. This isn’t how I dreamed for it to be.”
The two flirt about Wilhelm’s dream scenario before leaving for an event that supposedly can’t start without them, them reports.
The clip doesn’t need to show much to showcase Wilhelm and Simon’s chemistry and tease the tensions that await the young couple ahead of Young Royals‘s third and final season.
“I’ve always imagined Young Royals being told in three parts and because of the fans’ dedication to our story, we get to tell the last one,” head writer and co-creator Lisa Ambjörn told Netflix’s TUDUM in December 2022.
“The ending has been clear to me from the start and I’m so thankful and honored to get to finish this saga as intended,” Ambjörn added.
Returning to the throne for Young Royals‘s final season are Frida Argento as Sara, Malte Gårdinger as August, and Nikita Uggla as Felice.
