What to Watch on TV: The Gilded Age, Black Cake, and Gen V

Welcome to a new week and another round of What to Watch on TV for the week of October 29th! Our picks this week include some exciting premieres, fun new episodes, a few bittersweet finales, and some movies. 

This week we feature The Gilded Age, Black Cake, Gen V, and more!

The Gilded Age – Sunday, October 29th

Agnes’ nephew, Dashiell Montgomery, is soon to arrive in New York, and Gladys and Oscar begin courting once more. The Gilded Age premieres Sunday, October 29th at 9/8c on HBO and Max.

Episode Description: On Easter Sunday, Agnes informs Ada, Marian, and Oscar about the imminent arrival of her nephew, Dashiell Montgomery, in New York. Meanwhile, Bertha shuns Mrs Astor to support the Metropolitan Opera House and Oscar begins courting Gladys once again.

Fear the Walking Dead – Sunday, October 29th

Padre’s supply of fuel is dwindling, so the survivors set out to find some, and Madison ends up reuniting with someone who allows her the opportunity for revenge. Fear the Walking Dead airs Sunday, October 29th at 9/8c on AMC.

Episode Description: The search for fuel to replenish Padre’s dwindling supply leads the survivors to a reunion that gives Madison an unexpected opportunity for revenge and reconciliation.

The Matchmakers – Monday, October 30th

Jung Soon Deok and Shim Jung Woo try to work together to arrange the marriages of four young maidens. The Matchmakers premieres Monday, October 30th on Rakuten Viki.

Episode Description: Set in the Joseon dynasty, this romantic comedy portrays the encounter between a young widow, Jung Soon Deok (played by Cho Yi-hyun), and a young widower, Shim Jung Woo (played by Rowoon). Their story revolves around the challenges they face together in arranging marriages for four young maidens who symbolize the Joseon era. The genre of this series encompasses both romance and comedy, offering a historical twist.

Found – Tuesday, October 31st

The life of one of the team is put in danger when they begin the search for 21-year-old Satcha Moncado. Found airs Tuesday, October 31st at 10/9c on NBC.

Black Cake – Wednesday, November 1st

When Eleanor Bennett dies from cancer, she leaves behind a flash drive for her children. On it holds the story of their family’s past. Black Cake premieres Wednesday, November 1st on Hulu.

Quantum Leap – Wednesday, November 1st

After telling Addison she can no longer be his hologram, Ben is joined on his next leap with Magic. They end up at a shoe store in Koreatown in LA at the start of the 1992 riots. Quantum Leap airs Wednesday, November 1st at 8/7c on NBC. 

Episode Description: Ben lands in the body of an 18-year-old working for his father’s shoe store in Koreatown in Los Angeles at the start of the explosive 1992 riots; facing an emotional connection in the riots to his past, Magic joins Ben on the leap.

SurrealEstate – Wednesday, November 1st

August visits his past while Luke has to think on his feet when a client gets trapped inside her own home — by her home. SurrealEstate airs Wednesday, November 1st at 10/9c on SyFy.

Episode Description: Luke must improvise when a client’s home traps her inside; August pays a visit to his past.

All the Light We Cannot See – Thursday, November 2nd

Based on the novel of the same name, this series dives into the lives of a blind French girl and a young German soldier who find themselves in each other’s orbits during WWII. All the Light We Cannot See premieres Thursday, November 2nd on Netflix.

Star Trek: Lower Decks – Thursday, November 2nd

On the season finale, the gang faces up against an unknown force that has been destroying starships and threatening galactic peace all season long. Star Trek: Lower Decks airs Thursday, November 2nd on Paramount+.

Invincible – Friday, November 3rd

In a post-battle world, Mark is left to pick up the pieces and decide whether or not he can take up the mantle of the world’s strongest protector. Invincible premieres Friday, November 3rd on Prime Video.

Season Description: Set in a world after Omni Man’s battle with Invincible. Mark is left to pick up the pieces and serve as the world’s strongest protector, but can he overcome the dark shadow left by his father?

Gen V – Friday, November 3rd

Tensions have reached an all time high between the supes and the rest of the population, and it looks like there’s going to be an all-out battle on the Gen V season finale. Gen V airs Friday, November 3rd on Prime Video.

Never Been Chris’d – Saturday, November 4th

Naomi and Liz are home for the holidays and manage to reconnect with their high school crush, Chris Silver. Love shenanigans ensue when both women want a chance with him. Never Been Chris’d airs Saturday, November 4th at 8/7c on Hallmark.

Film Description: Home for the holidays, BFFs Naomi and Liz reconnect with high school crush Chris Silver. A complex love triangle forms, forcing them to take stock of their lives and find the value of friendship.
