Tracy Spiridakos to Leave ‘Chicago P.D.’ After Season 11

Chicago P.D., News

The end of the Upstead era on Chicago P.D. is officially coming.

In an exclusive, Variety announced that Tracy Spiridakos is leaving the police procedural after Season 11. With the departure of both Upton and Halstead from the show, the ship will likely be but a lovely memory.

As SAG-AFTRA continues to strike the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) to get a fair deal, Chicago P.D.‘s return for the previously-renewed Season 11 is unknown. Therefore, there is no date for Spiridakos’s exit from the show.

There is also no confirmation on how many episodes the actor will be a part of before saying goodbye to a character One Chicago fans have come to love after almost eight seasons and 127 episodes.

Spiridakos joined the cast during Chicago P.D. Season 4 as a guest star, appearing in only four episodes. However, when Sophia Bush’s character, Erin Lindsay, made her exit, Hailey Upton became a series regular. Since then, the complicated and dedicated detective has become a fan favorite.

Upton joined the Intelligence Unit after crossing paths with Trudy Platt in her past. After a short-lived relationship with Adam Ruzek, Upton moved on to become half of one of Chicago P.D.‘s most popular ships — Upstead. However, their marriage and overall relationship may over after Chicago P.D. Season 11.

As TV Line reports, the announcement of Spiridakos’s exit comes after the recent departure of Jesse Lee Soffer. Jay Halstead said goodbye to the Intelligence Unit and Chicago during Chicago P.D. Season 10.

The show has mentioned the character throughout the episodes, and Soffer returned as a director for Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 16, “Deadlocked.”

During Chicago P.D. Season 10, Upton struggled to find her ground after her husband’s departure and dealing with the aftermath of killing someone.

This announcement will probably have One Chicago fans wondering if Upton will leave Chicago P.D. to follow Halstead. Will this be what pushes her to leave the team behind? Is there a chance Upstead might reunite beyond the screen?

It is only a matter of time until fans have to say goodbye to Hailey Upton, and the only hope is that her departure will be deserving of the eight seasons she has given this show.

Chicago P.D. is available for streaming on Peacock.
