Quantum Leap returns for its second season with Quantum Leap Season 2 Episode 1, “This Took Too Long!”

As viewers will remember, the Season 1 finale, Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 18, “Judgement Day,” ended with Ben saving the world from an apocalyptic future and saving Addison from fellow time traveler Martinez.

With his mission completed, Ben lights up as the accelerator begins to initiate his next leap. A leap Ben and the team hope will be his final one home.

But before we find out where and when Ben leaps to, the episode ends, leaving viewers waiting all summer to find out what happened.

It was a pretty obvious assumption at the time that Ben wouldn’t leap home since we knew there was a whole new season of adventure to look forward to by the time of the finale.

The preview material only confirms what we already knew. It shows that Ben leaped into the body of a man who is part of a group stranded somewhere in Russia in 1978.

Other than knowing where and when Ben leaps to, there aren’t many hints to glean from the preview material about Ben’s fate. There are even fewer about the rest of the team beyond showing them working together again in future episodes.

What happens to Ben after his last leap? Is this his first leap since the events of the finale? What’s going on with the rest of the team? Is Janis still in the mix? So many questions and NBC isn’t giving much away.

Check out the photos and promo video below for a preview!

Episode description: Ben, while he does have his memories back, does not return home. His next leap takes him somewhere on a plane over Russia in 1978.
