True Detective: Night Court Premiere Date Announced by HBO
True Detective unravels its next case on True Detective: Night Court in 2024.
The six-episode HBO Original drama series, starring Jodie Foster and Kali Reis, premieres on Sunday, January 4, at 9/8c on HBO, with the new episodes streaming on Max.
After its first teaser in April, HBO has unveiled a new teaser that sees Foster’s Detective Liz Danvers and Reis’s Detective Evangeline Navarro attempt to push aside their personal opinions of each other to “dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice,” per the season’s logline.
The case in Ennis, Alaska, is about what happens when the “long winter night falls” and “the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.” In mining for the truth, Liz and Evangeline will also “have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves.”
Evangeline sets that tone with the teaser’s opening line: “Don’t you ever get this feeling that sometimes you just want to disappear? Just walk out, never stop.” To which Liz counters with, “This is Alaska. No one ever really leaves.”
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO & Max Content, debuted True Detective: Night Country‘s new teaser at the Code Conference on Wednesday, September 27.
Alongside Foster and Reise, True Detective: Night Country also stars Finn Bennett and Fiona Shaw, with Christopher Eccleston, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and John Hawkes.
The season’s guest stars include Anna Lambe, Aka Niviâna, June Thiele, Diane Benson, and Joel D. Montgrand. Issa López serves as showrunner, writer, director, and executive producer of all of True Detective: Night Country‘s episodes.
In November 2022, HBO announced that True Detective: Night Country went into production.
The show’s executive produced include Mari Jo Winkler, Barry Jenkins, Adele Romanski, and Mark Ceryak for PASTEL, Chris Mundy, Alan Page Arriaga, Steve Golin; Richard Brown, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson, Cary Joji Fukunaga, and Nic Pizzolatto.
Princess Daazhraii Johnson, Cathy Tagnak Rexford, and Sam Breckman produce True Detective: Night Country.
