Modern Family Finds a New Home at TBS
Modern Family is coming back to TV.
Variety exclusively reported that the ABC comedy is coming to TBS to air its old seasons.
In an announcement that expands the network’s offering of The Big Bang Theory, TBS doubles down as a top destination for comedy by licensing Modern Family.

TBS will air Modern Family on weekdays in its 12:30-3:30 p.m. ET/PT time slow, beginning on Monday, September 25. This week, TBS will begin airing longer daily The Big Bang Theory marathons.
Co-created by executive producers Steven Levitan and Christopher Lloyd, Modern Family aired 250 episodes across 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020 that followed the diverse and complex Pritchett-Dunphy-Tucker clan.
The mockumentary sitcom starred Ed O’Neill as Jay Pritchett, Sofía Vergara as Gloria, Rico Rodriguez as Manny, Julie Bowen as Claire, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Sarah Hyland as Haley, Ariel Winter as Alex, Nolan Gould as Luke, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron, and Aubrey Anderson-Emmons as Lily.
During its tenure, Modern Family earned 85 Emmy® Awards nominations and 22 wins, including five for Outstanding Comedy Series.

“Our audience continually seeks out popular comedies like Friends, The Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family, so now that we have all three of these iconic series on TBS, we can build an even bigger, more engaged audience,” Julie Taylor, Chief of Content Strategy & Insights, US Networks Group, Warner Bros. Discovery, said.
“We have the best in class content that drives an audience from daytime through primetime and we do that by leveraging our fans’ affinity for comedies and by creating daily destinations,” Taylor added.
Variety reports “Modern Family is expected to continue running in other venues where it has been found” — NCBUniversal’s cable networks and Peacock and Disney’s Hulu.

“NBCU had exclusive rights to cable distribution of the series for the first few years of its deal, one of these people said, but Warner Bros. Discovery had the right to seek out other cable networks after a certain amount of time elapsed.”
20th Television in association wtih Steven Levitan Productions and Picador Productions produced Modern Family.
Paul Corrigan, Brad Walsh, Danny Zuker, Abraham Higginbotham, Jeffrey Richman, Elaine Ko, Stephen Lloyd, Vali Chandrasekaran, Jack Burditt, Jon Pollack, and Jeff Morton served as executive producers on the final season.
