Lawmen: Bass Reeves Premiere Date and Teaser Trailer Released by Paramount+

The untold story of the most legendary lawman in the Old West is coming to Paramount+.

Starring David Oyelowo in the titular role, the anthology series Lawmen: Bass Reeves premieres with two episodes on Sunday, November 5.

Paramount+ reveals that future iterations of the series, produced by Taylor Sheridan and created for TV by executive producer and showrunner Chad Feehan, will follow other iconic lawmen and outlaws who have impacted history.

The streaming service unveiled first-look images at the show last month.

Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, Bosque Ranch Productions, and Yoruba Saxon, “Lawmen: Bass Reeves follows the journey of Reeves and his rise from enslavement to law enforcement as the first Black U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi,” per its logline.

“Despite arresting over 3,000 outlaws during the course of his career, the weight of the badge was heavy, and he wrestled with its moral and spiritual cost to his beloved family.”

Lawmen: Bass Reeves stars Oyelowo, Lauren E. Banks, Demi Singleton, Forrest Goodluck, Barry Pepper, Donald Sutherland, and Dennis Quaid.

Shea Whigham and Garrett Hedlund will appear as guest stars.

Joaquina Kalukango, Lonnie Chavis, Grantham Coleman, Tosin Morohunfola, Dale Dickey, Rob Morgan, Ryan O’Nan, Margot Bingham, Mo Brings Plenty, Justin Hurtt-Dunkley, and Bill Dawes star in recurring roles.

The news about Lawmen: Bass Reeves comes a day after Paramount+ renewed Mayor of Kingstown for Season 3 — one of Sheridan’s other projects for the streaming service.

Both developments come as the fate of Yellowstone remains unclear, as previously reported in February 2023.

Sheridan’s catalog of TV shows on Paramount+ includes 1923, 1883, Tulsa King, this year’s addition Special Ops: Lioness, and the upcoming series Land Man.

Sheridan, Oyelowo, David C. Glasser, Jessica Oyelowo, David Permut, Christina Alexandra Voros, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin executive produce Lawmen: Bass Reeves.

The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution outside of Paramount+ international markets.
