Preview — Heartstopper Season 2: Paris Bound

Charlie, Nick, and the rest of the Truham Grammar gang are back for Heartstopper Season 2. Season 2 promises all the sweetness and fluff of Season 1. This time though, there is the added romance of a trip to Paris.
While the trailer teases plenty of swoon-worthy moments for newly official boyfriends Charlie and Nick, it’s not all smooth sailing for the pair or their friends.

Nick is still struggling to come out publically. Even with Charlie’s unwavering support, the tension between Nick’s desire to come out and his fear of doing so will weigh heavily on him this season.
Elsewhere Tao and Elle continue to struggle to make the jump from friends to romantic partners despite their obvious mutual feelings. Even Tara and Darcy, Season 1’s most established ship, have some bumps in the road this season.
As series creator Alice Osema (who also wrote the comic the show is based on) puts it, Heartstopper is about “exploring real, serious issues that can be dark, but trying to balance that with that feeling of hope that things can and will get better.”
Whether it’s the highest of romantic highs or navigating being queer in spaces that are not always kind, this is a show that has always led with its heart. Based on all the preview material, there is every indication that Season 2 will continue to do exactly that.

Season description: Nick and Charlie navigate their new relationship; Tara and Darcy face unforeseen challenges and Tao and Elle work out if they can ever be more than just friends. With exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom to plan, the gang has a lot to juggle as they journey through the next stages of life, love and friendship.
