Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig Join Forces in Action-Comedy ‘Obliterated’ on Netflix
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Teen Wolf fans will want to tune into Netflix’s new “high-octane action-comedy” Obliterated when it premieres in November.
TV Line reports that the first season, containing eight 60-minute episodes, will debut on Thursday, November 30, on Netflix.
Obliterated follows “an elite special forces team who thwarts a deadly threat to Las Vegas. After their celebratory party, filled with booze, drugs, and sex, the team discovers that the bomb they deactivated was a fake,” per its synopsis.
“The now intoxicated team has to fight through their impairments, overcome their personal issues, find the real bomb, and save the world.”
The streaming announced the show from Cobra Kai creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald in May 2022. The trio serves as showrunners and executive producers. Dina Hillier is also an executive producer.
Hurwitz spoke to Collider in September 2022 and revealed a bit about what to expect from Obliterated. “Our new show is a whole other kind of beast. It’s not something that you bring the families to, I’ll say that,” Hurwitz shared.
“It’s a throwback to all the kind of work that we did before Cobra Kai, but in such a… In our belief, a revolutionary way for television. You don’t see those big, you know, R-rated summer blockbuster comedies come out in theaters that much anymore. And Obliterated is kind of the TV equivalent of that,” Hurwitz added.
“[…] It’s the throwback to those action movies of our youth as well. But it’s all of our skills thrown in one blender. And that’s what Obliterated is. It’s a wild one. It’s so much fun, and it’s gonna surprise people,” Hurwitz concluded, per Collider.
Netflix announced that Nick Zano and Shelley Hennig would star as Obliterated‘s leads in June 2022. Hennig is “Ava Winters, a by-the-books CIA lead agent overseeing the special forces team,” per Netflix’s TUDUM.
Meanwhile, Zano is “Chad McKnight, the hard-partying SEAL team leader.”
The show also stars C. Thomas Howell, Kimi Rutledge, Paola Lázaro, Terrence Terrell, Alyson Gorske, and Eugene Kim.
With its announcement of the show, Netflix shared that Obliterated was to begin production in the summer of 2022. The newly released information reveals that the show was filmed in Albuquerque, NM, and Las Vegas, NV.
Hurwitz, Schlossberg, and Heald also directed Obliterated, a show from Sony Pictures Television.
