Heels Season 2 Episode 5 Review: Who the Hell Is The Condamned?
Heels Season 2 Episode 5, “Who the Hell Is The Condamned?” does an impeccable job of setting certain characters up for exponential growth while bringing tensions to a conclusion between others.
Picking up right where “Heavy Heads” leaves off, we’re given a look at how Jack’s last-moment decisions will yet again put the DWL in a bind with Gully. Meanwhile, Staci is on a mission to reveal Willie’s secrets, and Crystal is pushing for the women’s division to continue.
“Who the Hell Is The Condamned?” is one of the better episodes of the season thanks to its ability to further storylines, reveal essential plot information, and bring certain characters closer together through different obstacles.

Secrets Unveiled
One of the main intriguing aspects of “Who the Hell Is The Condamned?” is the deep dive into Willie’s secretive ways this season. Episode by episode, Willie has slowly continued to go downhill with her secrets, nasty behavior, and alcoholism.
At first glance, she seems like the same old Willie to those around her, but through Staci’s semi-detective work, we’re finally getting a deeper look into Willie’s investment with the DWL.
Unbeknownst to Jack, the DWL is in debt of $100k for property taxes Sonya Tuckerman allowed Tom Spade to skip out on because she found him attractive. Now, Willie has taken it upon herself to ensure the payments are made without a fuse or anyone else being aware of the situation. It’s an admirable trait that seems lost on Staci at the moment.
Building suspense is always necessary for a series, but it’s always appreciated when plot points are revealed quicker rather than being a slow-burn all season.

Additionally, this episode paints Willie in a new light. Has she been more irritated and verbally abusive? Yes. Is she drinking until she blacks out and paying her family no mind whatsoever? Yes. Those are still points of issues she needs to deal with, but now we better understand why she’s doing what she is, allowing some lenience.
Despite focusing all of her attention on that, she still has the DWL’s best interest at heart, and she amplifies that sentiment by continuously cleaning up Jack’s messes as well. Without her, there’s no telling what Jack would have come up with to appease Gully after his little stunt with Ace.
Willie singlehandedly helps keep the DWL in its good graces while helping Crystal further her wrestling career by suggesting they give her to FWD for the cross-promotion.
One of my main hopes for the end of the season is to see Willie overcome the shroud of darkness surrounding her and find some sort of guiding light out of the mess that is the DWL.

Cross-Promotion Differences
Despite the obvious issues between Gully and Jack that only exacerbate any situation the two are in together, Gully has some valid reasons to be upset. Instead of suing Jack for everything he has, he’s given him an opportunity to play along and settle it outside of court. But, at every turn, Jack has made some spur-of-the-moment decision to negate what they’ve discussed.
Gully: Jack, two pieces of advice. One, get a new sound system that doesn’t sound like you bought it at Radio Shack. Two, get a spelling book ’cause the word is condemned.

Jack has been insufferable in many instances throughout the season, and it’s almost over. It’s time he learns to step back and go with the flow to fix the mess he created rather than continue trying to pull one over on Gully.
At the end of the day, Gully has a set of principles that he abides by, and it’s something to be respected because it’s clear how hard he’s trying to settle the situation man-to-man rather than by court of law.
Other Thoughts:
- Even with Crystal joining the FWD for a portion of the cross-promotion, it’s clear Brooks Rizzo disappearing from his seat to pursue the Spade brothers will be another frustration for Gully.
- With the ongoing drama for Crystal as she tries to advance her career in a male-dominated field, it’s nice to see her taking a step back and visiting her mother in prison. It’s a much-needed palate cleanser.
- Despite wishing we’d been given a little more time to break the barrier between Diego and Wild Bill, the two squashing the tension between them is much needed. It’s a special moment and defining indicator that speaking up and making your voice heard in certain situations rather than staying silent can be the best outcome and actually allow you to get what you want.
