Ahsoka Tano Reunites with Sabine Wren in ‘Ahsoka’ Trailer for Disney+

Ahsoka, News

Ahsoka is coming to Disney+ with a two-episode premiere.

Lucasfilm released a new trailer for Ahsoka to celebrate the news about the series debut on Wednesday, August 23. After its special premiere, the eight-episode season will debut new episodes weekly.

Per its logline, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight and Anakin Skywalker’s former Padawan Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy. The series is set after the fall of the Empire and Rosario Dawson’s other live-action appearances as Ahsoka on The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett.

The trailer details her quest to find Lars Mikkelsen’s Grand Admiral Thrawn, who has reemerged as an heir to the Empire, which leads Ahsoka back to Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s Sabine Wren.

Their history is a complicated tale, like that of Ahsoka and Anakin, which the dialogue teases when Ashoka says,” Anakin never got to finish my training. I walked away from him just like I walked away from Sabine.”

As previously reported, Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker on Ahsoka, as he does briefly in flashbacks on Disney+’s Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Mikkelsen initially voiced Thrawn on the animated series on Star Wars Rebels; seven years later, the character will make his live-action debut, Variety confirms.

Likewise, David Tennant voiced the droid Huyang on Star Wars: Clone Wars. Meanwhile, Ashley Eckstein originated Ahsoka Tano’s on-screen presence in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which debuted in 2008.

As TV Line notes, Ahsoka‘s trailer features the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skolland, who sets the tone for his character and the trailer with one line: “We are no Jedi.”

This new footage from Ahsoka comes one day after Disney+ unveiled a featurette titled “Journey to Ahsoka.” The Disney+ series unveiled its first teaser trailer at Star Wars Celebration 2023, where executive producers Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni confirmed Ahsoka would premiere in August. Filoni also wrote the series.
