A New Murder Takes the Stage in ‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 3 Trailer
Only Murders in the Building Season 3’s official trailer teases enough to start piecing together clues in Charles, Oliver, and Mabel’s biggest murder mystery yet ahead of its premiere on Hulu next month.
The new footage picks up where Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 10, “I Know Who Did It,” leaves off — with the leading man in Oliver’s play falling dead on opening night. Paul Rudd plays Ben Glenroy, the victim at the center of the season’s mystery.
Only Murders in the Building will restart its podcast to investigate the crime and all of its suspects when Season 3 premieres with two episodes on Tuesday, August 8, on Hulu. New episodes will stream weekly.

One of those suspects is Meryl Streep’s Loretta Durkin, who is famously terrible at table reads. That’s right; Meryl Streep is on Only Murders in the Building Season 3, and she’s playing a character who is bad at acting.
New cast members also include Ashley Park’s Kimber, who Charles describes as a “TikTok-addicted starlet.”
Jesse Williams also joins the cast this season as Tobert. His character appears to share a spark with Mabel after she runs into him when following a lead. Let’s just say Mabel seems more comfortable around Tobert than she does trying “girl talk” to break through to Kimber.
Per its synopsis, Only Murders in the Building‘s new season will see the trio embark “on their toughest case yet, all while director Oliver desperately attempts to put his show back together. Curtains up!”

The trailer also teases that Jane Lynch and Tina Fey will reappear as Sazz Pataki and Cinda Canning, while Matthew Broderick will make his Only Murders in the Building debut in Season 3. It also announces that the new season will feature original music from the composers of La La Land, Waitress, and Hairspray.
Only Murders in the Building debuted with a three-episode series premiere in 2021 and since has become an Emmy-nominated series.
Series regulars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez announced that Season 3 would premiere in August in a video shared to the show’s social media accounts earlier this month.
From co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman, Only Murders in the Building is executive produced by Martin, Hoffman, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal. 20th Television, a part of Disney Television Studios, produces the series.
