Preview — The Witcher Season 3 Part 1: This Time With Feeling
Netflix’s popular fantasy series The Witcher is back for part 1 of its third season. While The Witcher Season 3 isn’t the show’s final season, it is the show’s final chapter as viewers have come to know it.
In 2022 it was announced the show’s lead, Henry Cavill, is stepping away from his role as the gruff Witcher, Geralt, with Liam Hemsworth set to take over in Season 4.

Knowing this is the beginning of the end of Cavill’s time on the show makes anticipation of the premiere feel a little bittersweet. Still, before we get to Cavill’s actual swan song, there is a lot to look forward to and be excited about.
Series creator Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has described Season 3 as more emotional, with Geralt no longer able to feign indifference.
“For years, Geralt has claimed neutrality, shunned politics, and publicly asserted that witchers don’t have emotions — all to make his life as a killer easier to navigate.” Schmidt Hissrich said.
“We’ve seen him battle monsters and monstrous humans; we’ve watched as he’s hardened himself in order to survive. This season, he can no longer do that.”
There is, of course, plenty of action to look forward to this season as well. With Ciri’s existence and lineage now known to the most powerful factions on the Continent, danger lurks everywhere.
“Now, there’s a real threat. It’s genuine; it’s no longer theoretical — it’s practical. And it’s very, very dangerous. They are walking into the lion’s den everywhere they go.” describes Cavill.
The stakes have never been higher for our quartet. To protect Ciri, they will have to rely on each other, no easy feat given their fraught history.
Will this newly formed family be able to rebuild trust and preserve together? How will the revelation about Ciri’s still very much alive father impact things?
