The CW Announces Programming for the 2023/2024 Season
The CW has announced its programming plans for its seven-night 2023/2024 primetime schedule, with All American as the only returning series. In addition, the network’s line-up will include a slate of new dramas and comedies, including 61st Street, Son of a Critch, FBoy Island, The Spencer Sisters, and Sullivan’s Crossing.
Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, The CW Network, unveiled the new schedule, stating, “This fall, The CW embarks on the first step to become bigger and broader by offering our viewers a wide variety of programming from premium adult dramas to bold comedies and binge-worthy unscripted franchises.”
“We are presenting a fall line-up that includes classic CW series like the smash multiplatform hit All American plus introducing new premium dramatic offerings such as 61st Street, Sullivan’s Crossing, and The Spencer Sisters.”

“We are proud to bring comedy back to The CW on Tuesday nights with some of the funniest and heartwarming family sitcoms on television with Son of a Critch, Run The Burbs, Children Ruin Everything, and Everyone Else Burns.”
“We are thrilled to welcome one of the biggest and most outrageous unscripted franchises on television, FBoy Island, to The CW family alongside long-running hit alternative series Penn & Teller: Fool Us, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Masters of Illusion, and World’s Funniest Animals.”
“And Sundays will introduce a season-long family co-viewing night beginning with the acclaimed I AM film franchise. The new CW is now a broadcast network built for a broadcast audience,” Schwartz added.
Penn & Teller: Fool Us (Season 10) will feature Brooke Burke as its new host, and The CW will welcome a new season of FBoy Island to tis line-up. The Critics Choice Awards will also return to the network on January 14, 2024.
Walker (Season 4) and FGirl Island will premiere midseason on The CW, with decisions about Superman & Lois, All American: Homecoming, and Gotham Knights still unannounced.

The thriller series 61st Street comes from Peter Moffat, J. David Shanks, and Outlier Society and depicts “the dark heart of the infamous Chicago criminal justice system as police and prosecutors investigate a deadly drug bust that threatens to unravel the police department’s code of silence,” per its synopsis.
Courtney B. Vance leads 61st Street‘s ensemble, which includes Aunjanue Ellis, Mark O’Brien, Holt McCallany, Tosin Cole, Andrene Ward-Hammond, and Bentley Green.
The series comes from AMC Studios with Moffat, Shanks, Michael B. Jordan and Outlier Society, Alana Mayo, Jeff Freilich, and Hilary Salmon executive producing.
CHILDREN RUIN EVERYTHING

From New Metric Media and created by Kurt Smeaton, the half-hour comedy Children Ruin Everything follows Meaghan Rath’s Astrid and Aaron Abrams’ James “as they raise their two young children in the city, while struggling to hold onto their pre-kid life,” per its synopsis.
The series illustrates “the hilarious and varied ways kids can wreck happiness, alter plans, annihilate goals and dreams, and force parents to re-invent their lives, the series also explores how maybe that re-invented life is somewhat okay, too. Nowhere near as good as that old, really great life. But still kind of nice.”
Children Ruin Everything also stars Ennis Esmer, Nazneen Contractor, Logan Nicholson, Mikayla SwamiNathan, Dmitry Chepovetsky, Veena Sood, Lisa Codrington, and Darius Rota.
The comedy’s executive producers include Chuck Tatham, Mark Montefiore, and Meaghan Rath. Alyson Richards is a producer. New Metric Media also produces Children Ruin Everything in association with Bell Media’s CTV, with the participation of the Canada Media Fund and Bell Fund.

Everyone Else Burns checks in with the Lewises, who are “a strictly religious family who believe the world will end within the decade.”
Simon Bird’s patriarch David waits for a promotion within the church, while Kate O’Flynn’s Fiona “hungers for a life beyond sermons and squash.”
Harry Connor’s Aaron “is a model young believer,” but “his drawings feature the rest of the family burning in hell,” and Amy James-Kelly’s 17-year-old Rachel is falling for someone who may save her social life but “damn her soul.”
Everyone Else Burns is co-produced by JAX Media and Universal International Studios, a division of the Univeral Studio group, for Channel 4. Dillon Mapletoft and Oliver Taylor created and wrote the series, with Nick Collett directing.
Jax Media’s Tony Hernandez and Brooke Posh are executive producers, and Molly Seymour is a producer on Everyone Else Burns.

Originally airing on HBO Max and hosted by comedian and actress Nikki Glaser, FBoy Island “follows three women who move to a tropical paradise where they’re joined by 26 men—13 self-proclaimed “Nice Guys” looking for love and 13 self-proclaimed “Fboys,” there to compete for cold, hard cash,” per its synopsis.
The women must navigate the dating pool to find a lasting love connection, which is revealed by the finale: “who is a Nice Guy, who is an FBoy, who the women ultimately choose, and who walks away with the prize money.”
STXtelevision produces FBoy Island, created by Elan Gale, who is also executive producing for TheYearOfElan Productions alongside Jason Goldberg for STXtelevision, Nikki Glaser, Noah Fogelson, and Bob Simonds.

Per its synopsis, Run the Burbs “follows the Phams, a young, bold Vietnamese-South Asian family taking a different approach to living life to the fullest, while changing the way we think about contemporary family values and life in the burbs.”
Co-creator and executive producer Scott Townend stars as the stay-at-home dad Andrew Pham. Rakhee Morzaria is Andrew’s “free-spirited entrepreneur wife,” Camille, Zoriah Wong is their teenage daughter Khia, and Roman Pesina is their “clever” young son, Leo.
Though the Phams are often the instigators of their neighborhood, they “become the heart of their cul-de-sac. Through all the challenges and stresses of everyday suburban life, the Phams take on the world as a cohesive unit.”
A CBC Original Production, Pier 21 Films produces Run the Burbs, and Fifth Season distributes it.

Based on Mark Critch’s memoir This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Son of a Critch follows Mark coming of age in the 1980s with “a heartfelt window in the life of a child—who is much older inside than his 11 years—using comedy and self-deprecation to win friends and connect with the small collection of people in his limited world.”
Mark Critch stars as his father, Mike, in the comedy, with Benjamin Evan Ainsworth starring as Young Mark. Claire Rankin is Mark’s mother, Mary, Colton Gobbo is Mark’s older brother, Mike Jr., and Malcolm McDowell is Patrick “Pop” Critch. Newcomers Sophia Powers and Mark Rivera star as Mark’s classmates.
Created by Mark Critch and Tim McAuliffe, Son of a Critch is produced by Andrew Barnsley, a co-production between Barnsley’s Project 10 Productions Inc. and Take the Shot Productions in association with CBC and Lionsgate Television, which handles worldwide distribution.
Critch, McAuliffe, Barnsley, and Allan Hawco executive produce Son of a Critch, with Renuka Jeyapalan, Perry Chafe, Amanda Joy, and Anita Kapila as co-executive producers. Jeyapalan also directed the first four episodes of the comedy.

Created by Alan McCullough, The Spencer Sisters stars Lea Thompson as mystery novelist Victoria Spencer with Stacey Farber co-starring as her daughter, Darby Spencer. People mistake the pair as sisters when “they tackle puzzling cases.”
In supporting roles, Thomas Antony Olajide stars as Darby’s best friend and local cop, Zane Graham; Edward Ruttle as Doctor Lucas Collins; Husein Madhavji as a hacker named Alastair Dhumal; Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves as literary agent Sarita Stark; Rodrigo Massa as Zane’s husband Antonio Pereira, Kaitlyn Leeb as a lawyer named Lindsay Yip; and Adam Hurtig as the lead detective of the local police force.

SULLIVAN’S CROSSING

Sullivan’s Crossing brings Morgan Kohan’s Maggie Sullivan, star neurosurgeon, back to her childhood home when she is sued for negligence. The small town is described as “a rustic and remote campground set against the stunning coastline still run by her estranged father,” Scott Patteron’s Sully Sullivan.
Upon her return, ” Maggie rekindles old friendships and builds new ones with the local residents,” one of whom is Chad Michael Murray’s Cal Jones, “who only serves to complicate her life further.”
Repairing her reputation means that Maggie must face “her painful past, as she attempts to reconnect with a side of herself she had long forgotten,” per Sullivan’s Crossing synopsis.
The series comes from executive producers Roma Roth and Christopher E. Perry. Reel World Management, in association with CTV and Fremantle, executive produces. Roth serves as Sullivan’s Crossing‘s showrunner.
Mike Volpe and Mark Gingras are producers. For Fremantle, Michela Di Mondo and Hilary Martin are executive producing. Fremantle distributes the series internationally.
