Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 15 Review: Blood and Honor
Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 15, “Blood and Honor,” brings back Samantha Beck and her criminally problematic father. This time around, they are involved with a meth lab and a triple homicide.
When Samantha Beck was introduced on Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 12, “I Can Let You Go,” it looked like she would be able to connect with Upton, but this episode proves it is Adam who can form a bond with her.
Ruzek gets called to a crime scene and discovers there is a meth lab next to the place where the homicide happened. As the investigation goes on, he must go undercover to find out what is truly going on.

In order to establish continuity and remind viewers of who the Becks are, Samantha is reintroduced by the Intelligence Unit as they recap how they met her, what happened when she was kidnapped, and how odd her father seemed.
However, before Ruzek can get involved, they must do some digging and try to find out why she has been going in and out of a meth lab for the last months. Chicago P.D. does this by having the team follow Samantha wherever she goes.
But instead of simply tagging her, every movement she makes is document by a camera lens. As the team retells what she is doing, we watch her through the eye of the camera and capture everywhere she goes.
This camera play gives us the feeling that we are also following her along with the team and have a secret view into her life.

“Blood and Honor” presents a case that seems to be pretty straightforward. The Becks are drug dealers, Samantha is doing whatever her father tells her to, and Ruzek is undercover to gather evidence against them.
It all takes a turn when Samantha’s son is introduced. On the one hand, because Ruzek finds something he has in common with her and can bond over.
He immediately has good rapport with the little boy as they talk about a video game and Ruzek mentions his daughter. Probably against her better judgment, Samantha trusts Adam and let’s him get closer to her.
This is where Adam begins to get a little bit too emotionally involved in the case. His gut tells him there is more going on and he needs to pick the safety of Samantha and her son over the case.
Kim, rightfully so, is worried he is getting too close and will lose perspective. But instead of angrily confronting him about it, she brings him home so he can see their daughter and clear his head.
Burgess reacting this way is a sign that her own healing journey is on the right path and she can see when others need help as well.

On the other hand, with the introduction of Samantha’s son, the case becomes something more than a drug investigation. Chicago P.D. shows us, with the discovery Samantha and Adam make in her son’s backpack, the notion that Richard Beck is connected to white supremacist groups.
This new evidence confirms that Adam’s instincts were right and there is more to the Becks than meets the eye. For him, it is about Samantha’s fear of her father and not just the meth lab.
When Richard pulls Adam to the side and asks him if he is like him, we know he is beginning to trust Adam and more will come from this interaction. However, when it is time to act, Ruzek must go to Samantha’s rescue.
As viewers, we immediately believe this will affect him and Richard will no longer trust him. But it is Samantha who confirms this is only the beginning and there will be much more for Adam to do with her father.
The way in which she says this, makes us think it is more connected with his white supremacist group than with the drugs. Something big is coming and Adam must be ready.

Chicago P.D. Season 10 Episode 15, “Blood and Honor,” is proof that Adam Ruzek has grown not only as a cop but as a person.
The young, inexperienced cop has become one of the best the team has, but has also become a family man. His interactions with Makayla show him under a different light, one we weren’t used to.
Even though the little girl still doesn’t call him “dad,” he is very much her father and both him and Kim talk about her as their daughter. The episode starts with him and Kevin watching Makayla and Jordan, and it is she who stays on his mind throughout the case.
Having Makayla in his life has definitely changed Ruzek’s perspective for the best. He is a better cop and a better man because of her.

“Blood and Honor” is definitely not the last we will see of the Becks. Something larger than what the Intelligence Unit had predicted is coming.
We will surely see more of them on upcoming episodes of Chicago P.D. Hopefully, this means we will also see more of Adam’s work undercover.
