Servant Season 4 Episode 7 Review: Myth
George proves he’s a great salesman by convincing everyone that it’s all an illusion. He manages to trick Julian, Sean, and even many viewers on Servant Season 4 Episode 7, “Myth.”
As the saying goes… “the greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist.” This episode very much takes that idea and turns it into a very compelling half-hour.
It’s jaw-dropping entertainment that twists and turns things until the very last minute. We know not to trust George. Throughout the show, he has been nothing but a menace.

However, Sean, Julian, and the audience briefly let their guards down and trust him. It’s a mistake that costs the viewers nothing but may result in the Turners experiencing greater turmoil. Despite the potential consequences, it’s thrilling to watch Julian, Dorothy, and Sean finally not feel powerless, even if it’s a temporary high.
Power and control are intoxicating after all.
Thus far, Servant Season 4 has been consistent and impressive and has a clear focus on the end goal. Therefore, it’s no surprise that “Myth” is so gripping and exciting. Additionally, it may even be the best episode of the season so far.
It takes the viewers on a confusing but believable journey. It makes you doubt what you know and see.
It’s not easy to take viewers on a journey for four seasons and then make them start to question their own perceptions. That’s the kind of clever writing that makes fiction riveting.

Moreover, it turns watching television into an active activity, not just a passive one.
Your perception starts to align with the Turner family. You join the afraid and bewildered crew. However, things go back to normal when you once again know more than them.
“Myth” relies heavily on how it makes the audience feel. Without the brief bamboozling of us, there isn’t much else happening on this episode.
It doesn’t progress the story. It doesn’t reveal new details. Also, it doesn’t propel things closer to the end.
It simply sets Julian, Dorothy, and Sean up to become overconfident and make dangerous moves. In addition, it may allow them to, temporarily, remove Leanne from their lives.

But the thing about obsession is that it’s not easy to destroy. It may go away but it returns when nothing replaces it.
Leanne isn’t going anywhere as long as she sees Dorothy as a mother figure. A needy child doesn’t vanish because their mother tries to outwit them.
They come back and hold on harder.
If Servant achieves anything with this episode, it’s making us want to know what happens next. It resets the board.
Julian, Dorothy, and Sean believe that they know the truth, which means they are once again with a false sense of freedom. Therefore, they may do or say anything to continue towards a path that frees them from Leanne.

However, we know that Leanne still holds true power. So how can the false sense of power compete with true power?
Stray Thoughts
- Dorothy has done some A+-level ridiculous segments on her show.
- Leanne storming off like a spoiled child is hilarious, especially knowing she could have done worse to them.
- We need an episode that’s really just Sean’s reality show.

Yes! I was so confused. I was saying to myself that this cannot be right, that it was all parlor tricks. Then I saw the ending of penance and I still kept wondering if it was indeed all an illusion.
I am definitely still wondering what’s the truth lol but for now, I’m going to believe that Leanne has some powers.
