Servant Season 4 Episode 4 Review: Boo

Reviews, Servant

Halloween and chaos join forces to start a takedown Leanne agenda. Servant Season 4 Episode 4, “Boo,” highlights why they must stop her but it could be too late.

Overall, Leanne’s actions are about her need to protect — especially the Turner family. However, now everything she does is to showcase her strength and abilities.

Leanne is power-hungry and doesn’t shy away from showing it.

Even the most honorable person can lose themselves when power becomes too delicious. So imagine how an already unstable person may react to power without limits. You almost cannot blame Leanne for embracing her dark side and abilities.

She spends most of her life in fear and in an abusive cult. Therefore, it’s a surprise that she didn’t lose herself even sooner.

Nevertheless, the problems begin with Leanne’s lack of remorse. She attacks multiple children on “Boo” and shows no regret.

Her morals and sense of right and wrong and duty are vanishing. Everyone who tries to stop her should worry. This is why it may be too late to take her down.

She may be too powerful and without shame.

Uncle George mentions his fears about them being too late to stop Leanne, but he may still not grasp the depths of her powers. Things will definitely not end well for him. Additionally, Roscoe should fear Leanne more.

Now, you have to respect that Sean finally makes a decision to help Dorothy remove Leanne from their lives. However, he may be setting himself up for an early demise.

A war is coming. Julian picks Leanne’s side and Sean picks Dorothy’s side. If Sean and Dorothy attempt to harm Leanne or help Uncle George, things could get gruesome.

“Boo” shows Leanne fully entwined with madness. This allows her freedom that the other characters lack, which may allow her to do what they can’t, destroy them.

This episode of Servant is all about her being the hunter but it ends with her being hunted. The only difference in these goals is that Leanne is actually willing to do anything to protect her life.

Sean claims he is ready for that, but everything we know about him says differently. It’s Servant’s final season so anyone and everyone are vulnerable to death.

Sean may be the first casualty if he truly tries to actively work against Leanne.

Bev and Bobbie are either chaotic good or chaotic evil in this world. They seem to be subtly influencing Leanne’s actions with careful manipulation.

They encourage her to go out on Halloween and also make her aware of Dorothy’s mother’s costumes. However, they also seem on Dorothy’s side as they are making efforts to help her.

However, they also seem to want her to remember what she did to Jericho.

Maybe they are neither good or bad but simply trying to move the inevitable — the end of the world — forward.

Stray Thoughts
  • Leanne’s costume is so well-done. Scary yet beautiful.
  • Leanne breaking that child’s arm may be one of Servant‘s most disturbing moments thus far.
  • Jericho’s costume is indeed adorable.
  • Tobe feels out of character in “Boo,” but that may be because of Leanne’s ability to influence emotions.
  • Bev and Bobbie wearing witch hats…interesting.
