The growing trend of social media making teenagers internet famous gets extremely real on Law & Order Season 22 Episode 12, “Almost Famous,” when a teen ends up dead. 

Cosgrove and Shaw realize they have no real knowledge prior to this case on how far kids are willing to go for a moment of fame. It’s one of the latest trends of today where every teen wants to be the next big thing on the internet.

This desire leads to stupid decisions and jealous, immature reactions.

Meanwhile, Price and Maroun believe they’ve found the culprit only to take a risk in prosecuting them and find out they are wrong. This leads them back to the beginning with a few frustrated parties wanting answers.

Episode description: After a teenager is killed, Cosgrove and Shaw discover what lengths kids will go to become internet famous; Price and Maroun take a risk to go after whom they believe to be the real criminal in the case, but they wind up back where they started.
