Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 10 Review: Reginald Andres Beyond the Thunderdome
Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 10, “Reginald Andres Beyond the Thunder Dome” finally takes us to the ominous assessment, and it’s every bit as ridiculous as we thought it would be.
The series did a great job of keeping the assessment in the shadows because when there are tasks centered around cheese identification and finger traps, it doesn’t seem that scary. There’s humor in it when you hear the tasks being read out and you think, “Can’t anyone do that?” The answer that comes to your head immediately is, “Anyone except a centuries-old vampire.”

The look of pride on Maurice’s face when he realizes that Reginald may actually be able to pass after all is the most rewarding part of the entire scene. It’s bested only by the twist of Sarah’s mirrorball being implanted in Reginald’s stomach for the final takedown.
Using the rules against the deacon and the rest of the vampire council is rewarding in itself, but what’s even more rewarding is being able to see the crew come together after they defeat the current vampire council. Seeing everyone relax together, even Todd who went from the villain to a friend in this season is a sight to behold.
Looking back at Reginald the Vampire Season 1, it’s clear that the series had a story it wanted to tell and tied that all up within the ten episodes they had while planting seeds for a larger story.

The way the angels come back and murder Eve is an enticing note to end the season. Knowing what we learned about angels from Reginald the Vampire Season 1 Episode 8, “The Odyessy,” the idea that angels and higher beings are on their way to wipe out the vampire race is an interesting complication.
It’s one that I would definitely look forward to watching if the show was renewed for a second season.
But, Reginald the Vampire wouldn’t be what it is without its relationships. Sarah and Reginald don’t end the season on a happy note, and that’s okay. The fact that they’ve left space for hope feels very natural. Sarah wants their relationship to work and Reginald doesn’t want to lose her, but he has to face up to his behavior before they can be good for each.

And yes, I realize he’s a vampire and she’s human. That’s another hurdle that they’ll have to overcome, but that’s for another day. Let’s get over the betrayal first.
Overall, “Reginald Andres Beyond the Thunderdome” is a satisfying end to a season that sets up for a lot more. When you look back at the season a whole every character grew in some way, even the villains who keep swearing to destroy our heroes.
“Reginald Andres Beyond the Thunderdome,” gives me high hopes for a second season.
Stray Thoughts:
- Claw machines are always rigged!
- Julian Richings as Logan is exactly what this season was missing. (Seriously, he’s the go-to for every creepy sci-fi/horror/fantasy villain!)
- Todd and Mike were unexpected, but I ship it.
- Nikki and Ashley would also make a sweet pairing, and while they’re “just friends” going for a night walk together right now and holding hands, you can see the chemistry.
- Everyway was way too into their slushie recipes. I get that they work at a Slushie Shack but Mike finding them disgusting is relatable.
- The riff about Lebron James is the best way to diffuse a serious situation. Although, I feel bad for Reginald’s friend Ted.
- Nice Mad Max reference with the title!
