Quantum Leap returns from its winter hiatus with Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 9, “Fellow Travelers.”

On the episode, Ben leaps to 1979 and into the body of a bodyguard for a pop star named Carly, played by Daredevil’s Deborah Ann Woll. Ben and Addison soon discover that someone is out to murder Carly. His mission for this leap is to figure out who so he can save her life.

While not necessarily a direct homage to The Bodyguard, it’s hard not to make the comparison. Some of Quantum Leap‘s best episodes this season have been ones that pay tribute to pop culture, so intentional or not, there is every reason to think that the mission of the week will be a good one.

As fun as this week’s leap might be, the thing most viewers are looking forward to is getting some answers about the big bombshell from the mid-season finale, Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 8, “Stand By Ben.”

At the end of “Stand By Ben,” Ben remembered why made his fateful first leap, and of course, it was to save Addison. The fact that Ben risked it all to save the love of his life is perhaps unsurprising, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t create a whole bunch of intriguing questions.

What exactly is the threat to Addison? Does it involve the other time traveler we met on Quantum Leap Season 1 Episode 5, “Salvation or Bust?” What is Janice’s involvement? We might not get all the answers on “Fellow Travelers,” but with so many new questions, hopefully, we will get some.
