The White Lotus Renewed for Season 3 by HBO
The White Lotus will continue with a new chapter when the series returns for Season 3 on HBO.
HBO promises that the recently announced third season will feature new characters and a new locale, just as the previous two seasons do.
As previously reported, Jennifer Coolidge is the only actor thus far to reprise her role from a previous season.
The Mike White series will take those new characters to another White Lotus property. Season 1, which premiered in July 2021, was set in Hawaii, while The White Lotus Season 2, currently airing on HBO, is set in Sicily.
The White Lotus‘ second season premiered on October 30 and will debut its season finale on Sunday, December 11, on HBO.
Per HBO, “Its first episode has already been watched by more than 7.6 million viewers, and last week the series hit an all-time weekly high, ranking as the #1 title overall on HBO Max.”
The series has received critical acclaim since its premiere, receiving 20 nominations across 13 categories at the 74th Emmy® Awards. The White Lotus Season 1 won ten awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, the most wins of any program that year.
Furthermore, Jennifer Coolidge won Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her performance as Tanya McQuoid.
Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Films, released a statement about the successful show’s renewal, sharing, “Reflecting on The White Lotus‘ humble, run-and-gun origin as a contained pandemic production, it’s impossible not to be awestruck by how Mike orchestrated one of the buzziest and most critically acclaimed shows.”
“And yet, he’s only continued to reach new heights in season 2, which is the ultimate testament to Mike’s raw, unparalleled vision. His courage to explore the uncharted waters of the human psyche, paired with his signature irreverent humor and buoyant directing style, have us all dreaming of more vacation days at the resort we’ve come to adore,” Orsi added.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to get the chance to collaborate on a third season together,” Orsi concluded.
