‘The White Lotus’ Season 2 Sets October Premiere at HBO

Get ready to return to The White Lotus! HBO announced today that The White Lotus Season 2 officially kicks off in October 2022.

Variety exclusively reported the news about the season’s premiere. The show is a dark comedy that parodies the lives of rich resort-goers.

Season 1 of the acclaimed series took viewers to a luxury resort in Hawaii, filled with fascinating affluent characters seemingly dissatisfied with their lives.

A death occurs, and chaos ensues, creating an uneasy atmosphere at the hotel. Beyond the suspense and humor, the show offers plenty of social commentary and satire.

The White Lotus Season 1 featured actors including Jennifer Coolidge, Alexandra Daddario, and Sydney Sweeney — from the hit show Euphoria also produced by HBO.

HBO and Warner Media officially green-lit The White Lotus for a second season in August 2021 after the show’s first season ranked #1 in popularity on the streaming service’s site.

As People confirms, Season 2 relocates the cast of characters to Italy. HBO adds that this trip includes another high-end hotel that is a part of the fictional White Lotus chain.

Jennifer Coolidge, who in a recent cover story with Variety credited the show for reviving her acting and comedic career, will return for The White Lotus Season 2.

HBO shared that Coolidge will be joined by new cast members Theo James (Sanditon), Aubrey Plaza (Happiest Season), and Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), among others. 

Writer and director Mike White returns at the helm of the upcoming season of The White Lotus, along with co-producers David Bernad, Nick Hall, and Mark Kamine.

The White Lotus Season 1 received 20 Emmy nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards. Although the show is returning for a second season, the limited episode format allows them to compete in the “Limited Series” category.

An unprecedented eight cast members from the show earned nominations. Gold Derby reports that, with those nominations, The White Lotus, makes history as the first TV series to amass five supporting actress nominees.

The White Lotus Season 1 is up for “Best Limited Series.” The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards air on September 12th, 2022 on NBC.

HBO has yet to release the exact date for The White Lotus Season 2. It’s worth noting that new episodes throughout Season 1 aired on HBO on Sunday nights. The first season featured six hour-long episodes.
