There were many first-time winners and history makers at the 74th Emmy® Awards.

First and foremost, Sheryl Lee Ralph won her first Emmy® Award for Abbott Elementary while Quinta Brunson won her first one for writing. And Lizzo turned heads with her emotional acceptance of an Emmy® Award for Lizzo’s Watch Out For the Big Grrrls. These women’s excitement was palpable through their words, tears, and smiles.

The White Lotus was a big winner with awards for Outstanding Limited Series, Supporting Actor and Actress, Writing, and Directing. And in the world of drama series, Succession earned a win for Outstanding Series, Supporting Actor (Matthew Macfadyen, another first-time winner), and Writing.

The big white horse of the evening had to be Squid Game which pulled out a couple of wins that many were expecting to go to shows like Ozark or Succession.

There were speeches abound about creating stories and opportunities that show the diversity and visions of the world. These words reflected well in the variety of winners throughout the night.
