Law and Order: Organized Crime, Reviews

Once again the writers think that Tia is a good substitute for Stabler’s true love — who we all know is Olivia Benson. Even without saying it, Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 3 Episode 8, “Whipping Post” says loud and clear we will get illusions but never a full confession.

There are so many opportunities for Stabler to say who he meant when he was drunk and confessed to being in love. In fact, Tia gives him multiple chances because she too knows that he needs to be honest with himself and her

Apart from that, this episode is a nice mix of emotional payout and drama. We are finally back on the radar of the Silas family — which has been a long time coming.

From the start of this season, Law & Order: Organized Crime has crafted the intrigue around Pearl almost perfectly. Just like with her husband and father-in-law we’ve wondered just how much we can trust her.

“Whipping Post” proves without a doubt that she is the most trustworthy of that whole family. With her sudden illness, we realize just how dangerous her relationship with Detective Stabler has been in the eyes of the Silas’.

What’s really great about this whole case is that Teddy comes to Stabler about investigating, which makes us question our distrust of him. This whole time he’s been a mouthpiece for the beliefs and actions of his father — could he really have a decent side to him?

Much like any criminal of the underworld, Teddy has a deep love for his wife, but that doesn’t overshadow his violent tendencies. I think we all still remember he hired a guy to set rats on people who got in the way of the casino going forward.

It is nice to see him have a tender side within him though. His passionate beating of the man who was hired to poison Pearl is clear evidence of that. Is it the typical way a man should show his love? No, definitely not — but it is still commendable.

Robert Silas — The Real Mobster

This whole season I haven’t trusted Robert Silas any more than I can throw him. (Just so you are aware I am a weakling that wouldn’t even be able to lift him.)

Law & Order: Organized Crime does a great job hyping this man up as someone sinister. This episode proves that without a shadow of a doubt.

Stabler’s hunches should never be discredited because he knows what he’s doing. This task force was created around his skills — you can’t tell me I’m wrong on that.

The minute he finds out their suspect has the same lawyer as Robert Silas he knows who’s pulling the strings. It’s fantastic to watch Stabler throw his weight around with Robert and come out ahead.

Moving forward, capturing Robert and charging him with the attempted murder of Pearl is going to be sweet, sweet justice.

The End of the Organized Crime Task Force

For the first time ever in this series, Sargeant Bell pisses me off. She has this knowledge about 1PP closing down the task force and instead of telling her team — so that maybe they can fight it — she keeps it close to the belt.

Luckily, Jet isn’t an idiot and she works out what is going on very easily. She is a much better person than Bell in this situation because she mentions it to Jamie and Reyes.

It’s so satisfying in the end to see Stabler lay into her about her decision to keep this secret. They are close friends who share a drink together at the end of a tough case. She should’ve told him.

The fact that she seems surprised and off-put by Stabler’s reaction and even tries to spin it onto him pisses me off even more. She chose not to say anything about her promotion because she was making a decision?

That is not very team player of her.

With the impending fall finale and the break up of this unit, it’s going to be interesting to see which team relationships fall apart. My money is on Stabler no longer trusting her to have his back.
