Brian Tee Exiting ‘Chicago Med’ After 8 Seasons

Chicago Med is losing series star Brian Tee as Dr. Ethan Choi during Season 8, which is currently airing on NBC.

This departure represents another major star leaving a Wolf Entertainment series. The most recent being Jesse Lee Soffer as Jay Halsted on Chicago P.D., who exited the series in its tenth season.

Deadline exclusively reported the news of Tee’s exit, detailing that Dr. Ethan Choi will leave the hospital on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 9, “The Start of Something New.” inwith TV Line confirms the episode will air December 7, 2022, on NBC.

Per Deadline, Tee is set to make a brief, off-camera return to the One Chicago family by making his directorial debut on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 16. Tee recently voiced roles Baymax! and Star Wars: Visions

Tee’s role as Dr. Ethan Choi has been central to Chicago Med from the beginning of the series. He was introduced as a Navy veteran in Season 1 and became the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Gaffney Medical Centre.

The series explored Ethan Choi’s military past throughout the series, including his relationship with Ethan’s former mentor Dean Archer. During his tenure on the show, Ethan navigated the loss of his father and revelations about his father’s sexuality.

Tee’s character was also recently written out of the series for a stint, starting on Chicago Med Season 6 Episode 22, “I Will Come to Save You,” after his character was shot by a patient. He was absent for much of Season 7 before returning to work.

Yaya DaCosta returned as April Sexton in Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 1, “How Do You Begin to Count the Losses”. She had been romantically involved with Ethan for much of the series.

Perhaps April and Ethan are destined for a happy-ever-after, particularly if Tee and Wolf Entertainment are open to Tee reprising his role in the future. Deadline reports that Brian Tee’s exit is his decision in order to spend more time with his family and pursue other career opportunities.

Of his departure, Tee told Deadline, “Playing Dr. Ethan Choi on Chicago Med has been such a gift and a blessing. I am forever grateful to our fans and my colleagues both in front of and behind the camera as I embark on a new journey”.

He continued, “I am forever indebted to Dick Wolf, NBC, and Universal Television for choosing me.”

  • I would love to see Vanessa comeback Is Justin Lieu Vanessa’s new love interests? Anyway I’m so happy for Ethan and April they were always been inlove with each other I want nothing but the best of happiness for them both I want to see Natalie to come back to see those two love birds to get married hopefully when Will see her they’ll get back together romantically I mean Asher who.
