Superman & Lois Recasts Jonathan Kent with Michael Bishop
Superman & Lois finds its new Jonathan Kent in Michael Bishop as the superhero series on The CW recasts the role.
Deadline confirms the casting news for the Australian actor. As previously reported, Jordan Elsass, who portrayed Jonathan in the show’s first two seasons, exited Superman & Lois ahead of Season 3.

Upon Elsass’ departure, Deadline reported that his exit was for personal reasons.
TV Line provides more details on Elsass’ reasoning in its report about Bishop’s casting. Elsass revealed more about his decision in a Cameo video requested by a fan last month.
Elsass shared, “I know that I was pumped for Season 3, for sure, but what are you going to do? Anyway, mental health is definitely 100 percent priority. It’s pinnacle. It’s got to take precedence.”
He went on about how he may step away from acting and try something different.

Elsass’ run as Jonathan Kent on Superman & Lois recently included a confrontation with a bizarro doppelganger of the character.
In a race to save their planet from merging with another, Clark, his family, and friends inadvertently revealed that they are not a part of The CW’s Arrowverse — most of which the network canceled earlier this year.
This bombshell was a shock since Bitsie Tulloch and Tyler Hoehclin debuted their iterations of Lois Lane and Clark Kent/Superman on Supergirl.
The Season 2 finale, Superman & Lois Season 2 Episode 15, “Waiting for Superman,” saw the Kents create a new Fortress of Solitude that will be used by the entire family moving forward.

So, it’s likely that Bishop’s iteration of Jonathan Kent will step inside that Fortress when Superman & Lois Season 3 premieres during The CW’s mid-season line-up.
Bishop recently made his American film debut as Max in the Disney Channel Original Movie Spin. It premiered on Disney Channel in August 2021 and is now streaming on Disney+.
When he appears as Jonathan on Superman & Lois, Bishop will join returning series regulars Hoechlin, Tulloch, Alex Garfin, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Dylan Walsh, Wolé Parks, Tayler Buck, Inde Navarrette, Erik Valdez, and Sofia Hasmik.

Good look to him. Hopefully fans give him a fair chance. IMO he looks like he could be a member of the Kent family, hopefully has the chemistry with the rest of the family. Looking forward to next season and seeing what they deliver.
