HBO originally released The White Lotus Season 1 as a miniseries in July 2021, but the show’s success, both with viewers and with critics, encouraged creator Mike White to write a second season. The White Lotus: Blossom Circle will feature a mostly new cast, beyond the popular exception of Jennifer Coolidge, who will be back once again.

The White Lotus Season 1 dominated the 2022 Emmy Awards, winning in 10 different categories, including Outstanding Limited Series. The series earned 20 nominations.

Mike White revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that The White Lotus: Blossom Circle will be “juicer” and “a little bit more sexier,” dealing with themes of “sexual politics” and Italian culture clash. As with the first season, the show centers around a hotel, The White Lotus: a chain of luxury resorts.

The White Lotus: Blossom Circle cast includes Wil Sharpe (Flowers), Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation), Theo James (Sanditon), Meghann Fahy (The Bold Type), Academy Award Winner F. Murray Abraham, Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, and Haley Lu Richardson.

Sabrina Impacciatore, Beatrice Grannó, and Simona Tabasco also joined the cast of The White Lotus: Blossom Circle as local Italians around the resort.
