Cobra Kaiis back, and so begins the reign of Terry Silver. Following Cobra Kai’s All Valley Tournament win at the end of Season 4, Cobra Kai Season 5 picks up with the infamous dojo stronger than ever and more dangerous than ever.
Going into Season 5, Terry seems to have all the cards. After betraying John Kreese, and getting his former friend arrested for maybe the one crime he didn’t do, Silver has control of Cobra Kai. And he has big plans to expand the dojo.
Not only does Terry have total control over Cobra Kai, but both of his potential rival dojos are no more. Daniel Russo’s Miyagi Do and Johnny Lawrence’s Eagle Fang shut down following their losses at the All Valley Tournament.
With his new sensei, Kim Da-Eun — played by Alicia Hannah-Kim — there doesn’t seem to be anything standing in the way of Terry making his brand of “No Mercy” karate and the mayhem that comes with it the only option available.
But Karate Kid franchise fans know by now never to bet against Daniel Russo. Daniel hasn’t given up despite closing Miyagi Do (for now, anyway). Even without his dojo and even if it brings his family to the brink, Daniel is determined to stop Terry, calling upon his rival turned friend, Chozen Toguchi, for help.
Meanwhile, Johnny starts Season 5 occupied by things other than karate. He has his hands full searching for Miguel — who left for Mexico at the end of Season 4 to find his father — and repairing his relationship with his son Robby.
It’s only a matter of time before Johnny is drawn back into the world of karate and the effort to stop Terry, though. Will Daniel, Johnny, and Chozen be able to work together to stop Cobra Kai? And even if they can, will it be enough?
