Dynasty Season 5 Episode 20 Review: First Kidnapping and Now Theft
On Dynasty Season 5 Episode 20, “First Kidnapping and Now Theft,” Alexis makes it her goal to connect with Fallon and Amanda.
Despite Alexis’s trivial decisions throughout the season, she’s been trying her hardest to connect with her children. In this episode, though, she takes it up another notch and forces the two to listen to a truth they’re unaware of.
One aspect that I love about this bonding is how the series doesn’t shy away from the multitude of Alexis’ past mistakes. She knows that in the past, she messed up and was not there for her children in the ways she should have been. However, it wasn’t entirely her fault.

Blake’s not the sole reason Alexis wasn’t in Fallon and Steven’s lives more, but he played a significant factor, and it’s time that Fallon acknowledges that fact. She and Blake don’t have the best relationship either, but he’s certainly been put on a pedestal compared to Alexis.
Using Dex to force Alexis to turn herself around this season was a solid move. We haven’t been granted much one-on-one time with Dex, but it’s obvious he rubs off on Alexis and makes her want to be better.
I hope that for the penultimate and finale episodes, we can see the bond between mother and daughter for Alexis, Amanda, and Fallon flourish even brighter.

Moreover, I hope the opposite goes for Adam. His self-centered, maniacal ways are old, tired, and exhausting. Watching him continue to get away with crime after crime with no repercussions is unentertaining.
With Blake’s public dismissal of Adam’s actions and kicking him out of the manor, I hope his downfall is upon us. He deserves to go back to jail for everything that he’s done. Quite frankly, so does Blake for bailing him out.
A blessing would be us ending the series without enduring Adam’s presence.
Elsewhere, Sam and Culhane are given a fun storyline that elicits outbursts of laughter. It’s a nice turn of events from the normal, even if it begins and ends in one episode.

La Mirage is a high-class hotel that features celebrities and high-profile clientele daily, though, so it’s a bit of a shock that Sam didn’t expect escorts to frequent the area.
Nevertheless, the scenario brings Ryan back into Sam’s life, which I didn’t know I wanted so badly until seeing them together.
Despite how their relationship came about, the two shared quite a connection. If we’re lucky, we’ll see Sam end the series in a relationship with someone he shared a bond with once before.
The least the series could do is allow Ryan to be with Sam since we never received a worthwhile ending for Steven, as I was hoping.

I know it would be the act of a miracle and is not likely to happen, but deep down, I still hope Dynasty surprises us and gives us a Steven feature before the end.
With all of the impromptu breaks the series has taken this season, they could’ve easily re-shot an ending scene with him, but I know that’s me being delusional.
Overall, “First Kidnapping and Now Theft” is a satisfactory addition to the season and is an amusing return to the series after another extended break.
Stray Thoughts:
- Jeff’s girlfriend being a double agent for Plenexia would be exciting if there weren’t only two episodes left. It’s a shame that the series was canceled before Jeff found a real companion.
- The lack of Dominque in the episode was a little frustrating.
- Fallon needs to ensure that Adam is nowhere near her child once Stacey gives birth. Knowing him, he’d harm the child in secret and then “help” it in hopes of being looked at in a better light.
- Sam lowkey blackmailing Liam into helping him catch the escort is a cheap shot, but I respect him for keeping Liam humbled. Liam has been a little too judgemental lately for someone who stole a whole book and claimed it as their own.
