The latest Netflix adaptation takes its inspiration from the hit comics series by the same name, chronicling eight stories of spirits and terror set in different schools with each episode directed by some of the horror genre’s new and notable directors. School Tales: The Series debuts Tuesday, August 9 on Netflix.

Series Description: Based on hit comics, School Tales The Series is a new Thai horror anthology of eight terrifying ghost stories set in schools, crafted by six Thai directors skilled in the art of scaring audiences. The soon-to-be-released title features a cast of young and rising stars.

It’s the final season of the genre series that follows a family that moves to a new home and discovers that there is more than meets the eye. But with every new magical discovery, comes a growing threat that they must face. The final season of Locke & Key’s final season drops Tuesday, August 9 on Netflix.

Season Description: The Locke family uncovers more magic within Keyhouse, while a new threat — the most dangerous one yet — looms in Matheson with plans of his own for the keys. Locke & Key is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss, and the unshakable bonds that define family.

I Am Groot – Wednesday, August 10

If your favorite part of the Guardians of the Galaxy series has been Groot, then you are in luck! A new series of short stories starring the tiny sapling’s adventures throughout the multiverse. I Am Groot debuts Wednesday, August 10 on Disney+.

Children of the Underground – Friday, August 12

A woman motivated by a family tragedy sets out to protect children and moms from abuse through a clandestine network that does what the criminal justice system cannot or will not. Children of the Underground debuts Friday, August 12 at 8/7c on FX.

Series Description: Charismatic vigilante Faye Yager builds a vast underground network that hides hundreds of mothers and children, saving them from the alleged abuse of husbands and fathers when a broken court system will not.

Play ball! Fans of the classic baseball film have a new series to look forward to that expands the world we got to see in the 1992 Penny Marshall film by the same name. A League of Their Own debuts Friday, August 12 on Prime Video.

Series Description: A League of Their Own  evokes the joyful spirit of Penny Marshall’s beloved classic, while widening the lens to tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball, both in and outside of the AAGPBL. The show follows Carson (Abbi Jacobson) and Max (Chanté Adams) and a new ensemble of sharp and hilarious characters as they carve their paths toward the field, along the way finding their teams and themselves.

Five Days at Memorial – Friday, August 12

Based on the devastating aftermath and the book, this series follows the impact of Hurricane Katrina on a local hospital as resources become scarce and the most unthinkable decisions must be made. Five Days at Memorial debuts Friday, August 12 on Apple TV+.

Series Description: Based on actual events and adapted from the book by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Sheri Fink, “Five Days at Memorial” chronicles the impact of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath on a local hospital. When the floodwaters rose, power failed and heat soared, exhausted caregivers at a New Orleans hospital were forced to make decisions that would follow them for years to come.

Never Have I Ever – Friday, August 12

It’s a new season, and Devi feels like she’s finally got what she wanted. But when she starts to hear people talking, she finds out quickly that maybe there are some obstacles she didn’t see along the way. Never Have I Ever drops Friday, August 12 on Netflix.

The Princess – Saturday, August 13

Commemorating the life and legacy of the “People’s Princess”, this documentary takes a new, deeper look at Princess Diana’s inner world and the intrusive and often vicious media’s reactions to her every move. The Princess debuts Saturday, August 13 at 8/7c on HBO.

Documentary Description: Intensely emotional, THE PRINCESS is a visceral submersion into Diana’s life in the constant and often intrusive glare of the media spotlight. The film unfolds as if it were in the present, allowing viewers to experience the overwhelming adoration, but also intense scrutiny of Diana’s every move and the constant judgement of her character.
