Preview — A League of Their Own: The Promise of Lots of Summer Fun

A League of Their Own promises to keep the summer going with plenty of sizzle.

Seriously, is it even summer without baseball? Girl-bossing America’s favorite game is exactly what we all need right now, and A League of Their Own promises to deliver just that. 

There is not nearly enough fictional sports content for the ladies. It’s long past time that changed. 

Based on Penny Marshall’s beloved 1992 classic of the same name, A League of Their Own is set to be a fictionalized portrayal of the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. 

Since it’s a World War 2 period piece, there is sure to be plenty of angst to go around. It will be interesting to see how the show weaves in the war itself. There are so many possibilities with all of the characters being featured here.

While we may not see Gena Davis, Madonna, or Tom Hanks in the show, the movie’s legacy looks like it will be in good hands. It’s the Rockford Peaches’ time to shine.

Series description: In 1943, Carson Shaw travels to Chicago to try out for the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. There, she meets other women who also dream of playing pro baseball and makes connections that open up her world. Rockford local Max Chapman also comes to the tryouts but is turned away. With the support of her best friend Clance, she must forge a new path to pursue her dream.
