Jeffrey Dean Morgan Joins ‘The Boys’ Season 4

News, The Boys

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is headed to Amazon Prime’s The Boys for Season 4.

This role marks another Supernatural casting crossover for the series, as The Boys‘ showrunner, Eric Kripke, created Supernatural.

Other crossovers between the two series include Jensen Ackles on The Boys Season 3 as Soldier Boy, one of the original, all-powerful supes created by Vought, and Jim Beaver as Secretary of Defense Robert A. Singer on Season 1.

According to TV Line, Morgan’s role is recurring, and the details about who he is playing are under wraps.

Kripke’s interest in casting Morgan on The Boys is no secret. In January 2020, ahead of Season 2, Kripke tweeted that he would love to cast Morgan for a role on Season 3 if he was available.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan made his love for the series known in a tweet, offering to join “in a heartbeat.”

During press for The Boys Season 3, Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that he wasn’t sure if this dream crossover would ever see the light of day due to Morgan’s commitments to The Walking Dead spin-off, previously titled Isle of the Dead

Luckily, the timing is finally right for Kripke and Morgan to work together again; this time on The Boys Season 4.

Season 3 ends with Homelander alive, Ackles’ Soldier Boy back in captivity, and The Boys again coming together to take down Vought.

Despite their best efforts to end his reign of terror, which almost killed Queen Maeve, The Boys could not defeat Homelander. His power is even more threatening now that his supe son Ryan is on his side.

After spending most of Season 3 worrying about how the public perceives him, Homelander finally sees that the real him, who is evil and vindictive, doesn’t turn away his loyal followers.

So, Homelander doesn’t have to hide his cruelty anymore, which is terrifying for the rest of the world.

Additionally, after taking doses of V24 to gain superpowers all season, Butcher faces a scary diagnosis, with only a year or so to live. This new reality will inevitably impact his approach to taking down Homelander and honoring Becca’s wishes for Ryan.

  • I definitely think Morgan will be playing a Supe but I’m hoping he will be on the side of the boys because at the moment it’s looking like Homelander has the “home” field advantage 🙂
