‘Big Sky’ Teases Its Big Return For Season 3 With Reba McEntire and Jensen Ackles

Big Sky, News

Big Sky will return on a new night with country legend Reba McEntire as a new series regular. McEntire, no stranger to television, will be joining recent addition, Jensen Ackles, on the thrilling drama series for Season 3 which has been officially dubbed Big Sky: Deadly Trails

Ackles sidled into town on the Big Sky Season 2 finale, “Catch a Few Fish,” and made a big impression as the new interim sheriff. That episode ended with Ackles’ Beau Arlen, Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), and Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) sharing a round of beers, welcoming him to Montana.

Big Sky is somewhat procedural, focusing on mysterious cases that last throughout the seasons. Season 2 saw the end of the human trafficking storyline that started the series, and in between there has been the nefarious dealings of the Kleinsassers and the Bhullar drug cartel setting up shop in the quiet town.

Season 3 promises yet another new mystery to solve with Reba McEntire as outdoor guide Sunny Barnes and a camping trip gone awry.

Big Sky is full of wacky, off-beat characters, and Sunny Barnes seems like she will fit right in.

Casting has been a strong asset to the series. Jesse James Keitel, John Carroll Lynch, Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Ted Levine, Michelle Forbes, Janina Gavankar, and Brooke Smith are just some of the big talent that has graced Big Sky with phenomenal performances ranging from dramatic and emotional to creepy and cheeky portrayals.

Sigler, who played Tonya on Season 2, has been upped to series regular along with J. Anthony Pena as deputy Mo Poppernack.

Big Sky: Deadly Trails will add to its impressive roster with Lost‘s Henry Ian Cusick, Madalyn Horcher (Doom Patrol), Anirudh Pisharody (9-1-1), Luke Mitchell (Blindspot) as Sunny’s son, and Fringe‘s Seth Gabel as Walter, a recluse who lives in the Montana wilderness.
