Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Performance Review
As the mystery around Bunny Folger’s death thickens, the answers become fewer than the further questions. On Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 6, “Performance Review,” the focus shifts more to Poppy and Cinda, but doesn’t leave out Mabel’s continued troubles.
Cinda is always an interesting character to focus on because she’s the hardest to gauge from on what is real and what is made up. Even in this episode she continues her streak of manipulating others to gain attention and notoriety.
It honestly seems as though Mabel is going to convince Poppy to pull away from Cinda and branch out on her own for once, but ultimately Poppy doesn’t have that level of strength. “Performance Review” is a character study in how Poppy tries to use her voice to gain leverage with Cinda and gets knocked down further because of it.

It’s my hope that by the end of this season Poppy will be able to stand up to Cinda once and for all to get free of her toxic behavior. Or Cinda gets revealed as the liar that she is — after all, Poppy did clue Mabel into just how dishonest Cinda is.
What would be even better is if Poppy manages to take on a podcast of her own, or teams up with Mabel, Charles, and Oliver for some real sleuthing. Over time Poppy has really expanded as a character and it would be wonderful to see that continue as the season moves toward its conclusion.
In the end this episode of Only Murders in the Building boils down to how are the troubles in Mabel’s life currently treating her. It’s a real shame that she can’t seem to ever find peace because it’s what she deserves.
When Mabel meets Alice earlier this season I was happy for her and excited to see her blossom with someone who seemed to have her best interests at heart. However, Alice’s cracks start to show during Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Episode 5, “The Tell” and during this episode the dam completely bursts.

Mabel finally lets her guard down around someone and lets them into her heart after all the heartbreak she suffered last season and she’s rewarded with this betrayal. Alice comes off as a bit shady, but even I couldn’t have predicted that she would use Mabel’s apartment for her own sick artist fantasies.
While we aren’t sure what is really happening with Mabel and the glitter bomb person on the subway it is safe to assume nothing good. Do we really blame Mabel for lashing out in anyway after what she has come home to?
More than likely Mabel hasn’t actually stabbed the person on the subway, but the video doesn’t make her look very good either. Things are definitely about to heat up.
Maybe we will finally get more answers instead of questions.
Stray Thoughts:
- Charles hiring his body double to break up with Jan is probably the most humorous moment of the episode.
- Who have they been texting if it’s not their detective friend?
- Oliver is always the most dramatic character, but this time I feel he has a right to be. Imagine finding out there’s a chance your beloved son might not be genetically yours.
- Glitter Bomb = Genius Ploy — if they had been paying attention enough
