‘I Am Groot’ Release Date and Poster Revealed by Disney+
Marvel fans are getting yet another summer series when I Am Groot premieres exclusively on Disney+ on August 10!
Marvel recently shared the series’ release date and poster. Eagle-eyed Marvel fans will notice that I Am Groot will premiere one week before She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Marvel fans have had a plethora of content released so far this year, with Moon Knight and the movies that the MCU released as part of its Phase 4 slate.
I Am Groot will follow Groot as a baby, which could mean that the series will rewind to before the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when the character was last a baby in MCU canon.
The show will feature a series of shorts following the human-like tree. It is unknown how many episodes I Am Groot will have.
Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy first introduced Groot. After sacrificing himself, the character was reborn as a baby and has since become an integral part of the Guardians of the Galaxy family.
The last time Groot was seen on-screen, Groot was a foul-mouthed teen in Avengers: Endgame. Thankfully, Groot remains with the Guardians of the Galaxy, which doesn’t seem likely to change soon.
I Am Groot represents what could be the first of three times we will see Groot this year. After that, Groot could appear in Thor: Love and Thunder and a Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special, both of which have 2022 release dates.
Although there aren’t many details available regarding casting for the series, we know Vin Diesel will reprise his role as the voice of Groot. Kirsten Lepore is the series’ director.
With the release date officially announced and the first look at a poster, it’s reasonable to expect that Marvel Studios will release a trailer and other glimpses of I Am Groot very soon.
