The Flight Attendant Review: No Exit (Season 2 Episode 7)

Reviews, The Flight Attendant

We’ve reached the penultimate episode of The Flight Episode Season 2. The Flight Attendant Season 2 Episode 7, “No Exit,” starts to pull some threads together, but doesn’t give us enough to see where the story is going or what we can expect from the finale.

Unlike The Flight Attendant Season 1, this season lacks pacing, depth, and cohesion. The show is trying to do a lot at once, and in the process it can’t decide what it wants to be.

Maybe that feeling is Cassie in a nutshell, but it’s also jarring to watch. The performances are great, as always. The scenes on the Ferris wheel carry so much drama and depth to them.

Mae Martin offers ups a spectacular performance in her final scenes, and I am hoping the information revealed gets unpacked a little. The fact that Grace is a veteran whose skills were being exploited and used in this way is an important conversation that show seems to be glossing over.

In the moments when Grace was talking about how she didn’t want to do this I thought to myself it would be a great opportunity to send another character to chill on Miranda’s olive farm!

you imagine the conversations those two would be having about Cassie? Plus, I imagine Miranda would probably love the fentanyl lollipops that Grace was importing after being shot in the leg, again!

Outside of Grace’s reveal, Cassie’s storyline this week feels flimsy. The most powerful moment is the conversation with her mom in the mind palace. The idealized version of Lisa and the mind palace with the water flowing in are stunning displays of magical realism at work.

The surreal and fantastical scenes with the bear in the water are also fascinating to watch but they take us away from the plot and slow down the story.

In comparison, Max and Ani’s storyline progresses well simply because they are starting to come to a resolution to their feelings. When it comes to their relationship and what they want from their future.

The fact that Ani’s got her ring back and they seem to be in a better place is a good progression for them. Now, Ani just needs to figure out her next move, which is something that shouldn’t be crammed into one episode.

We’re focused on Cassie’s journey, and she is the main character, but let’s be honest here: Cassie would be nowhere without Ani and Max’s help and sidelining that story to potentially cram it into the season finale is not what she deserves.

Last, we have Meghan’s attempt to get back to her family. Meghan’s story started off strong but has slowly just been an annoyance. I had hoping to see Meghan’s story come to a head at the pier given that Cassie thought she might be murdered, but that didn’t come to fruition.

Overall, “No Exit” was better than last week’s episode, but it also felt like it was dragging. The show has struggled with tone and pacing, and while visually stunning it’s not enough to give us a conclusion that viewers deserve.
