‘Saved by the Bell’ Canceled at Peacock After 2 Seasons
Bayside High’s doors are closed again. Peacock announced it has canceled Saved by the Bell after only two seasons.
Deadline exclusively reported the news, adding the cast and crew were told Tuesday.
Saved By the Bell‘s second season debuted on the streaming service in November. During that season, Bayside High competes in the Southern California School Spirit Competition. Relationships — platonic and romantic — are tested as tensions rise between the Bayside students and their rivals at Valley.
Saved by the Bell leans heavily on nostalgia throughout the series while finding creative ways to reimagine the franchise. It pulls off that delicate balance with the help of stars from the original series.

Both seasons of Saved by the Bell utilize Elizabeth Berkley Lauren as Jessie Spano and Mario Lopez as A.C. Slater in series regular roles — exploring their characters’ connection after their tumultuous past in the original series.
Other fan-favorites return in recurring roles and as guest stars, including Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Zack Morris, Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly Kapowski, and Lark Voorhies as Lisa Turtle.
However, Saved by the Bell wouldn’t be able to make a fresh take on a familiar favorite without Bayside High’s new students.
Haskiri Velazquez, Mitchell Hoog, Josie Totah, Alycia Pascual-Peña, Belmont Cameli, and Dexter Darden played the new class. John Michael Higgins portrayed Bayside High’s Principal Toddman.

Season 2 follows Daisy as she attempts to maintain academic excellence even when a cute new student becomes the student council VP. Meanwhile, Mac tries to step out of his father Zack’s shadow by winning the competition.
Additionally, Jamie and Lexi work on their new relationship, while Aisha looks for a new outlet, and DeVante finds love with a Bayside girl.
Deadline reports this cancelation comes only a month after Saved by the Bell won Outstanding Comedy Series at the GLAAD Media Awards.
Mark-Paul Gosselaar took to Twitter to express his sadness about the comedy’s cancelation. Gosselaar wrote, “So disappointed by this news. So many talented individuals in all departments creating something original from a reboot. Respect and admiration to everyone involved and thanks to the viewers.”

Haskiri Velazquez, who played Daisy, also shared her thoughts in a heartfelt post on Instagram.
Velazquez wrote, “Saved by the Bell will always have a special place in my heart… This show gave me a platform where I was able to be a positive representation for all the little LatinX girls out there and the Latine community.”
“I didn’t know how much love and support we would receive from this show, but it was overwhelmingly incredible. I loved bringing Daisy to life,” Velazquez continued.
Additionally, Peacock released a statement about their decision to end the critically-acclaimed series. “We are so proud to have been the home of the next iteration of Saved by the Bell for both new and OG fans,” said a Peacock spokeswoman, according to Deadline.

“Saved by the Bell has been a cultural mainstay for more than 30 years and the new series, led by Tracey Wigfield’s superfan enthusiasm and signature witty humor, seamlessly continued the show’s legacy, all while allowing more audiences to feel seen. We’re grateful to Tracey, Franco Bario, our partners at UTV, the beloved cast, and the fans who have continued to champion one of the most iconic shows of all time.”
Tracey Wigfield serves as writer and executive producer for the series, alongside executive producer Franco Bario. Peter Engel also serves as executive producer. Saved by the Bell is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.
However bittersweet this news may be, there is some solace in the strides Saved by the Bell made during its short time as a series.
Of course, we can always rewatch it (and the rest of the decades-long franchise) since it’s streaming on Peacock.
